    Default Internet access problem

I am using Zone Alarm pro 6.5.737.000 on my small
network. I am using it for about three
years now and never had a problem. But now it seems after getting a latest upgrade, I have started getting problem.

Now days if Zone alarm is started then I cannot connect to Internet. I was trying to resolve the issue with my ISP. However he suspected the problem with Zone Alarm. He told me to shut down Zone Alarm and try to login again for ISP. And wow...it works. Again if I start Zone Alarm it stops working.

Again I have to log out from ISP, shut down zone alarm, "Reset Webs setting" in Internet Options and restore default in Advance. After this if I log in to my ISP I can browse for hours. If I start Zone alarm it stops.

I have checked that IP and DHCP are in trusted zone.

    Any solution??

    Best regards,

    nnitin

    Hi,

Well I'd try resetting the ZA database and let it "discover" the connections anew. You'll lose your settings but I think this might do the trick. It will bring the firewall back to the point as if it were a fresh installation.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode.
    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.
    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.
    4. Reboot into the normal mode.

PLEASE keep me posted on your results, THANKS.

    Hi SlyFox ,

No Luck !! I tried the procedure you suggested.

I also have ISDN on the same computer. I switched over to Dial up ISDN and
it works keeping Zone alarm on.

When I started Broadband ISP I observed that following are my TCP/IP settings:

    my Ip is 10.10.9.10
    subnet 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway 10.10.9.1

    Preferred DNS 202.144.115.4
    Alternate 202.144.66.6

But when I connect to my ISP, in zone alarm I see 10.10.9.0/255.255.255.0
This 10.10.9.0 is not there in my TCP settings. Will it matter?

This is really a great problem.

    Regards,

    Hi,

How about trying the following solution, PLEASE. Reboot your computer, while it is rebooting, start tapping F8, when it gets into the DOS Screen, scroll down until you see Last Known Good Configuration, PLEASE click on that and reboot your computer. PLEASE let me know if that fixes your problem, THANKS.
