    Do the /clean uninstall and just reinstall the ZA. Do this>

    - Click on Start -> Programs -> Zone Labs
    - RIGHT-click on Uninstall ZoneAlarm, then select Properties
    - Under Target you will see the following line (the actual drive may
    be different on your system):

    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe"

    Change it to:

    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean

    (add a space and then the /clean)

    Open the Zone Alarm and disable the "Load Zone Alarm .. at startup" in the Preferences of the Overview. Then reboot.

    -Return to the Uninstall ZoneAlarm in the Zone Labs of the All Programs
    - Click OK to run the uninstaller, and OK any security alerts that
    pop up.
    - say "Yes when being prompted for the removal of all files.
    - Reboot
    -clean all Temp folders and do a disk clean using the Windows Disk Clean utulity or a freeware reg/file cleaner such as CCleaner>

    -reinstall the ZA and this time skip the ZA 6.5 and try the ZAFree 6.1.744.001 from here>

    - and turn off the Automatic Updater.

    Seee what happens now. The 6.1.744.001 is the best so far of the 6.x versions. As a ZAFree user, there is no Technical Support, but at least if the issue is reported, then Zone Labs can possibly fix this issue in the newer 7.x series.

    Sorry, I should clear that up. I am trying to make a bug report because I appreciate the fact that ZA has a free edition. I am not trying to fix it on my particular computer at all costs. Therefore, going back to a previous version does not interest me, because my interest is in the current and future versions not having this bug. Having deleted "Internet Logs," which I am very glad to know about, so thanks!, I doubt anything else on the system is causing the Alert box to report the wrong IP, while the Log Viewer shows no IP.

    I have valid subscriptions and I use the ZAPro 5.5 and the ZA AS 6.1.744.001. Not the current versions.

    Those uninstall instructions may seem a little imtimadating but they are quite good and not that hard to do.
