Default Troubles After Upgrading to rev 8.0.020.000

After upgrading to version 8.0.020.000 (from 70.483.000) before the weekend, I can access the internet
BUT... my pc has slowed down considerably.
One program in particular, Norton Express Clean-up used to take between 30 seconds
& one minute to remove temporary internet files, etc.
(this
has been
the case when I was using any previous previous version of ZA)
It now takes a minimum of 30 minutes, and all pc resources are tied up, making my pc frozen & unusable for that 1/2 hour or so.
This is the case on both the pcs I upgraded to 8.0.020.000. (both
are running ZA Internet Security Suite on XP Home).
Help!
Thanx.

Hi!the upgrade did not work well. Norton Express? I would not recommend to run ZASS with any Norton staff in it. Including the Norton updater.IMO better to use free utilities to clean your system. For example CCleaner. Its solid, used by millions users and free.www.ccleaner.comFirst try to reset the ZA settings to see if your settings were already corrupted when you installed the new update. This way:1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootSecond try to boot your system only with ZA and standard MS services and programs. This way:1.) Click Start -> Run
2.) Type MSConfig in the run box and click OK
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
Monitor, and click OK.
8.) Restart your computerHow does it work?
NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
General tab.
Finally if you stiil problems try to remove ZA with /clean switch and reinstall. See here:http://www2.nohold.net/noHoldCust542...n_install.htmlAlso note that ZA may be scanning your system for viruses and this may explain the slow running of it.You need to give ZA some days before reporting again issues. I had a problem with the update too. Zonealarm is gone. Can't find it anywhere. I attempted to reinstall and it tells me I don't have admin rights, which I do.

Thanks for the reply. I still don't have a ZA icon in the system tray, nothing. I am using Windows XP and I have limited experience with networking, etc.

Thank you for replying. Neither of these options worked. I no longer have a ZA icon in my system tray. When I went to MSConfig ZL Client was not there. It seems to have been totally vaporized when I did the update.
Thanks

Hi!see the instruction below to remove any left oversfrom ZA.Just skip the things that will not apply to (e.g. ZA icon, etc), you need to boot in SAFE MODE and remove all files/folders/registry entries:http://forum.zonealarm.com/zonelabs/...message.id=103Cheers,Fax

I uninstalled the latest rev via Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs, & reinstalled the previous version I had been using.
Things are now back to normal (albeit w/ the older interface).
Thanx.
