    Default Good Karma in exchange for help with internet access issues and za internet security suite 7

    hello
    i am having some major problems with zonealarm internet security suite.
    I tried using it on my computer (upgraded from zonealarm pro
    4 or 5, which was working perfectly). after upgrade to za internet security suite 7, i could not access the internet. when zone alarm is turned off, internet works fine. occasionally, with zonealarm on, i could get access to my home page (cnn.com) but the page looked weird (big text, parts of website in different areas). then when trying to go to another webpage, get error "page not found", etc.
    ended up using internet without za, got viruses, had to reformat hard drive. thus, started over.
    now, with fresh installation of xp sp2, tried installing za internet security suite 7 again.
    same issues. internet access works perfectly with za off.
    with za on, occasionally, home page (cnn) will work but with giant sized text, and format of web page looking different (as before).
    when going to another webpage, i get the same "page not found".
    have tried searching these forums tirelessly. have tried every suggestion (messing with program control, giving internet and trusted access to svchost, ie, other programs suggested, adding ip address of router to trusted zone, adding dhcp and dns address to trusted zone). nothing works.
    I know that the computer has some sort of (limited)
    access to the internet when za is on because when the messed up version of cnn.com comes up, it is updated with
    today's news stories (thus, not some sort of cache loading the webpage). the webpage just has big text, and is reported to have an error on the page by ie after the webpage loads.

    also, for completeness sake, in trying to fix za this time, i had a ie window open to the za forums (with za off), i then restarted za (with the ie window still open). the opened window continued to have access to the internet on the za forums domain. however when trying to go to another domain from that window, or trying to start a new ie window, "page not found" error comes up.
    also, from within za, spyware can update but anti-virus cannot update (states "unable to connect" )
    when za is running.
    please help, i have spent hours and hours trying to resolve this. i really would like to use za but if i can't connect to the internet, then i might have to find a different program. any suggestions?
    if the above does not make sense (i am rather frazzled right now), please ask specific questions and i will answer them as soon as possible.
    thank you in advance for any help with this matter.

    I am having the exact same problem, except I am using Zone Alarm Pro. It happened out of the blue, just started yesterday. I have had to revert back to using Windows Firewall.

    Hello, my name is not Earl,<hr>You probably have leftover files from previous ZA's interfering with the new version or corrupt/bad install. Back to basics: when you install the fresh ZA suite - use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or 7; not Firefox,etc., shutdown Webroot SpySweeper, PCTools SpywareDoctor and other security software, if you can. In IE - Tools &gt; Pop-up Blocker &gt; Settings &gt; Add - *.zonelabs.com and download.zonelabs.com . You updated from ZA Pro to ZA suite, therefore what anti-virus were you using before? Please post back the answer. Whatever it was, hopefully, you deleted it properly. If you had Norton or McAfee - stop, do not proceed with any steps listed here - and tell me first.<hr>Courtesy : Guus abc from Nucia Dutch Antispyware Forum,

    To remove ZoneAlarm completely from your computer in case normal uninstall can t be run or doesn t run properly, do the following:

    * Right click the ZoneAlarm systray icon and click Restore ZoneAlarm Control Center.

    Go to Overview &gt; Preferences and uncheck Load ZoneAlarm at startup.

    Close Control Center, right click the icon again and then click Shutdown ZoneAlarm.

    Note: If you're unable to carry out this step because the icon is missing, you can skip it and proceed with the next steps, but in this case do them all in safe mode!

    *REBOOT

    * Go to Start &gt; Programs &gt; ZoneLabs and click Uninstall, or uninstall ZA using Control Panel &gt; Software &gt; Add/Remove Programs.

    If a security check appears, click Yes and continue the uninstall procedure.

    *REBOOT

    * Make sure hidden files and folders are shown. To do so open Windows Explorer. Depending on your OS click Tools or View and then Folder Options &gt; View.

    Choose Show hidden files and folders, uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Windows 2000/XP/2003 only) and click OK.

    * Next go to Start &gt; Search &gt; Files and Folders. Make sure the location box is set to search your Local Hard Drive (usually C:\ ) or All Local Drives. Also make

    sure the Advanced Search Options are set to search subfolders and hidden files. Now copy the entire line below, paste it into the search
    box and click Search Now.

    Zonelabs; &quot;zone labs&quot;; &quot;Internet logs&quot;; vsconfig.xml; vsdata.dll; vsdata95.vxd; vsdatant.sys; vsmon.*; vsmonapi.dll; vsnetutils.dll;vspubapi.dll; zaplus.*; zapro.*; **bleep**.dat; zlparser.dll; zonealarm.exe; zoneband.dll; vsutil.dll; zlclient.*

    A list of files and folders belonging to ZoneAlarm will appear in the Search Results pane.

    Note:
    if you re using McAfee software be sure to check the vsutil.dll if found: right click the file and choose Properties.Verify it belongs to ZoneLabs.

    If it does not do not remove it. Now proceed by deleting all ZoneLabs files and folders that were found.

    * Empty the Recycle Bin.

    * Now remove all ZoneLabs keys that may be left in the Windows registry. To do this copy the lines below and paste them into Notepad.

    Save the file as zabegone.reg, double click it and allow for the registry changes to be made.

    <hr>

    REGEDIT4

    [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZAMailSafe]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zone Labs]

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Zone Labs]

    [-HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Zone Labs]

    <hr>

    *REBOOT

    ZoneAlarm will now be completely removed from your computer. If you wish to install a new copy of ZA, be sure to do so under an administrator account

    with full rights and permissions.
    <hr>Now download from here - http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html
    . If successful, right click ZA system tray icon &gt; click &quot;Help&quot; &gt; read thru - check your settings and customizations - there are new features in ZA suite over ZA Pro. Post back your results.<hr>Good Karma ?? Well, if you used the complete ZA removal instructions from before, and still things are not working, you have said you had ZA Pro working fine on your pc, can I suggest going back to something that does work, use ZA Pro. And if you so desire you can get Kaspersky
    anti-virus as a
    separate part of your set-up or whatever you choose. Other options: get ZA Anti-virus, get ZA Antispy - See the ZA Product Comparison chart - http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte...US&amp;lang=en
