Default ZoneAlarm disables IE after periods of inactivity

Hi all, first post here so apologies upfront for any stupid questions.
I recently installed ZA (Free version) and I am having trouble accessing the internet at times. It is mainly when I first try to access the net after booting my PC or after periods of inactivity. If I shutdown ZA then IE connects immediately.
It also happens on an ad-hoc basis when trying to open new IE tabs etc.
I have never had this type of troubles before installing ZA so can only assume ZA is doing something it shouldn't!?!
I've read a few posts about ensuring svchost is given access etc and all appears to be configured correctly.
Appreciate any advice you guys might have.
    ThanksHighroller

    Hi,

    Welcome to the Forum!

I am very sorry that you are having issues with ZA and hopefully I will be able to help you find a solution.

PLEASE try the following, as this will bring the firewall back to the original settings.

I think is your Zone Alarm database has gotten corrupt and does not remember your Zones settings. Reset your database and see if that will fix it. Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

MAKE SURE you remove ALL the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files.

Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode.

    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.

    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.

    4.Then empty the Recycle Bin.

    5. Reboot into the normal mode.

How Do I Boot Into Safe Mode?

    Hello Highroller,
I don't have an answer but I can share your pain,
I am having the same issue, but with ZA Security Suite (ZASS). I was running Norton Antivirus for 10 years and SpySweeper for the past 5 and I wanted to "upgrade" to a one package deal. I have used ZA free since it first was published so I decided to go with ZASS. After "long" periods of inactivity my internet is shut down and my wireless adapter icon in the tray is "x"ed out and I have no connectivity. I have to reboot my Linksys wireless router (power on/off) to get connectivity back. Shutting down ZASS does not work because TrueVector (TV)
remains running (you can set this in the software). You can't shut down TV using task manager or other utilities (like TaskPower) because it is a "protected" service (?). You have to set ZA not to start at startup and for TV not to remain running when ZA shut down. I have websites I am responsible for and this is
very frustrating. I NEVER had this issue when running Norton Antivirus
and SpySweeper. I am sorry I decided to go with this software. I may returen to my previous software set
    Good luck,RFTEJerry
