Thread: iTunes and Amazon Unbox downloads fail

    Default iTunes and Amazon Unbox downloads fail

    I purchased, then tried to download, a 44-minute video from iTunes.
    With each attempt, downloading started but then
    repeatedly failed after about half the file was downloaded.
    I then tried to download the same video from Amazon Unbox. Downloading never started. I got a message to check my Internet connection.
    The connection
    was fine at 100 Mbps.
    This is looking like a Zone Alarm problem--that Zone Alarm is blocking the downloads.
    How do I need to adjust Zone Alarm to allow downloads from iTunes and Amazon Unbox?

    Hi,

    Welcome to the Forum!

    I am very sorry you are having problems with ZA and hopefully I will be able to find a solution for you.

    PLEASE make sure you turn off your Mobile Code Control under Privacy. Then try to download the file. After you have download the file, make sure you go back and turn on the Mobile Code Control.

    It is likely your Privacy settings causing the problem. The Privacy advisor can help resolve the issue and allow you to customise those sites for your use. You will need to go to the Privacy Panel and click on 'custom' in Cookie Control. Then go to the bottom and enable 'Show Privacy Advisor' click apply then ok.

    Next go to the page in question and when the Privacy Advisor alert pops up, click on "Click here for details'' and it should take you to the Site List box where you will see the entry causing the problem. The name of the entry can be found in the "Entry Detail" box at the bottom of the page. Now click on 'options' and turn off the ones that interfer with the page. You may have to try several and then refresh the page until the issue is resolved. Also clean your cache when completed

    If the above solutions does not work for you, PLEASE try the following.

    Reset the database this way; you will lose your customizations and will need to reconfigure Zone Alarm.

    1. Boot your computer into the Safe Mode.

    2. Navigate to the c:\windows\internet logs folder.

    3. Delete the backup.rdb and iamdb.rdb files in the folder.

    4.Then empty the Recycle Bin.

    5. Reboot into the normal mode.

    day after posting my message on this forum,
    I sent a message to Zone Labs Tech Support and received the responsebelow. After following the advice, I gave Amazon Unbox installation and downloading another try. It worked
    smoothly, and I was able to play the video. I haven't yet tried a nontrivial video download with iTunes.

    I understand you are having problems downloading from iTunes or
    Amazon Unbox.

    Something is being denied access that needs access for the Internet or
    email to work. Please follow the steps below to resolve your issue. In
    addition to the steps below please be sure to give Generic Host processes
    access in the Internet Zone and Server rights in the Trusted Zone.

    1.) Close your Internet applications.
    2.) Open Zone Alarm
    3.) Click the Program Control Panel.
    4.) Click the Programs Tab.
    5.) Check for any programs listed on this list that have red X's or red
    crossed circles and remove them from the list by right clicking them and
    choosing remove.
    6.) Reboot your computer.
    7.) Reopen your Internet Applications and grant access to all items that
    ask for access.

    You may be seeing the behavior of the New OS firewall.

    The OS firewall that is in this version will also controls what programs
    are allowed to run on your system. This part of the program will take some
    time to learn how you use your system.

    1.) Open up ZoneAlarm.
    2.) Click on Program Control.
    3.) Click on the Main tab.
    4.) Set Program Control to Auto (or Medium) and SmartDefense Advisor to
    Auto.
    5.) Click on the Programs tab.
    6.) Click on the question mark of any programs you trust in the Trust
    Level column and choose Trusted.
