Default Can no longer connect to Internet without disabling Zone Alarm

I am using the current free edition of Zone Alarm in Windows XP.
Today I discovered that I can no longer access the internet unless I disable Zone Alarm.

I remember getting some rotine Windows Security updates this morning. They were downloaded and installed.

Later when I tried to go online could not. I contacted SMC support, and went through many unsuccessful attempts
to reconfigure my SMC network. Eventually we tried disconnecting zonealarm and I was able to log in.

Any ideas as to what may be the likely culprit? Thanks for your help!

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

Same with me and another computer, when you set interneto zone to Medium it works again. You can also add specific ports in High...
I dont know what happend, everything worked ok earlier without it...

Me too, happened RIGHT after downloading latest Windows security updates.
I have been on hold with ZoneAlarm now for 16 minutes.
    What specific ports settings?
    Is this something you recommend?

Yes. Same thing here. The only way I can access the Internet is to turn off Zone Alarm. It happened right after a Windows update. I'm going to stop Windows on this computer so I still have Firewall protection. Hopefully ZoneLabs can get the bottom of it.

    Best,

Just talked to Zonelabs - they recommend uninstalling Security Update for Windows XP KB951748 and leaving your firewall on High until they find permanent fix.
    They are flooded with calls.

I had the exact same issue, EXCEPT that I am able to access the internet by moving the Internet Security Zone down to the 'Medium' level. I would prefer to be at the 'High' level, though, so if there's a fix, I'm interested.
I downloaded and installed 2 Windows Security fixes today, just as the other users have. As soon as I rebooted, the problem started.
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - July 2008 (KB890830)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB951748)

No...I suggest to do the same as they told you...If you would like to specify specific ports you should know all ports your applications are using...You can find one after another when looking into Alerts & logs and finding what ports were blocked and then enabling them...I was playing with this for while but then I just moved the slider to medium I will wait for the fix...

    Thanks!
I did do as they say and uninstalled and seems to be OK.
    Thanks for all your help.
Wish I had looked here before I spend 2 hours with Time Warner and calling Lenovo support!

    X-(
    Will know better next time.
