    Thank you ever so much for this. After 3 hours of trying everything I could think of and getting one **bleep** of a headache, this solution allows me now to go to bed.
    Weird thing is, for me (although I can't be 100% sure on this) I think the problem started before I installed the Windows update. I do recall after an hour of problems thinking maybe by installing the little update yellow sheild at the bottom of the screen the problem would go away. But then again, it could have been another even younger update I was installing at that stage!

    Windows Update confirms I installed the offending Windows UPdate, but it doesn't appear in Add Remove Programs even though I clicked on show updates. I got back on the Internet by reducing ZInternet security to medium, But I'm really not comfortable with that. Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I can access the offending Windows Update I would much prefer to remove it, than lessen my Firewall protection as I have.

    How to install the updated version?On top of the existing version, or to uninstall the existing version first by add/remove programs?Too bad they didn't give any details.

    I just did aClean Uninstall: (and everything works OK..(you may have to go into Program Control and check the settings for your other programs..)Try a clean unistall of the program then reinstall the program.....

    1.) Download a Current Copy of Zone Alarm Security Suite from
    ZA website in the release history section.

    2.) Go into ZA Overview/Preferences and Un-Check "Load Zone Alarm on Startup"
    3.) Reboot Computer to Remove Zone Alarm drivers from Memory..
    4.) Temporarily shut down any other AV/AS Security programs that May Conflict with ZA Install

    5..) Click on Start -&gt; Programs -&gt; Zone Labs
    RIGHT-click on Uninstall Zone Labs Security, then select Properties.
    Under Target you will see the following line (the actual drive may be different on your system):
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninstexe"
    Change it to:
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean (add a space and then the /clean)
    Click OK to save the new command line.
    Click on Start -&gt; Programs -&gt; Zone Labs -&gt; Uninstall Zone Labs Security
    Click OK to run the uninstaller, and OK any security alerts that pop up.
    say "Yes when being prompted for the removal of all files and allow TrueVector to shut down.
    - Reboot


    Using something like this Freeware CCleaner &lt;--- http://www.ccleaner.com/download/bui...wnloading-slim
    , will help do the cleanup as well on both the Hard drive and the Registry .


    Now You can Re-install the ZA program. Accept the default setting and choose TRUSTED ZONE and not the INTERNET ZONE..follow on screen instructions..Good Luck..--------------------------------------------------------

    Will the stated new release of software
    upgrade my current release
    when my current release of ZA Security Suite does an update or does it require an uninstall of current and then like a new install? No clear
    guidelines supplied with moderator's link.

    Thanks. But really, does CheckPoint expect the non technical customer to do all of this? Why can't they just establish an auto
    patch for ZA customers and have it therefore be customer friendly. My grandmother, wife, sister and brothers would all be lost in doing this procedure. PLEASE HELP US for all of those customers who are not techies!!!

    Thanks for the information.

    I uninstalled the offensive Microsoft Security Update last night.
    Do I first install the new Zone Alarm Pro, then the Microsoft update?
    or do I install the Microsoft then Zone Alarm Pro?
    Please advise as I am sure many others will wonder about this same thing.
