    Default Internet access blocked

I have had problems accessing the internet today. On contacting my broadband provider BT internet, they tell me it is a Zone alarm problem, and as soon as I switched off the Firewall I could get online again. They tell me they have had lots of other people with the same problem, but nobody seems to know why? Any ideas what has caused this?as I don't want to have to install the fir

I tried ZA's option 3 of the fix for Internet access after Tuesday's update ... it doesn't work! I already have my DNS Servers in the trusted Zone.
I had to allow outbound TCP ports 25, 80, 443, and 465 to make it work!!

Staying at High setting and adding only
required outbound ports, plus turning on XP Firewall works and doesn't expose me like the Medium setting does. Option 3 from ZA has no merit as I already had those DNS in the trusted Zone. What I said last night when I discovered a solution still holds true.

Hi!Uuuhm not sure I understand, are you running two firewalls? XP firewall + ZA... this not reccomended and most likely going to create problems.Cheers,Fax

Yes I am now and it produces no problems and hides the outbound ports I opened in ZA to TCP.

Hi!uuuhm, sorryI am bit lost... XPfirewall is only inbound... so it has no effects on outbound.Well, don't worry as long it works for you... its fine! :8}Cheers,Fax

True, it works and ports are hidden... maybe not needed but no performance impact observed.

Hi!Hidden is determined by HIGH settings...Outbound control is something else and governed by program control.Setting a general ruleon TCP (outgoing) will virtually allow freeriding (on those ports) by any software installed on the system. Not sure is the best solution.... Anyway, soon will get a patch.Cheers,Fax
