Default still cannot load new "fix" update

Running on "MED" works fine. Still have the dreaded MS update in my system. When I try to install the latest update (483)...the installation freezes at 53%...Temp\071108220744\instdrivers\1x32\klif.cat. I have tried 4 times ... 3 with clean install,
1 trying"upgrade".
Now running on "medium"

on version 462 as it is the only one that will load!
Any ideas please.Going to lie down in a dark room to recover!what a shambles

Here take a look at this/ click here > http://forums.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/...ssage.id=53130
- notice the un-loading of the current ZA.

Recommended Actions -

Download and install the latest versions 7.0.483 which solves the 'loss of internet access problem' here (English only):

Click here > ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Click here > ZoneAlarm Basic Firewall
(GeorgeV)
just did a
Clean Un-install:
(and everything works OK..(you may have to go into Program Control and check the settings for your other programs..)
Try a clean un-install of the program then reinstall the program.....

1.) Download a
Copy of Zone Alarm 7.0.483 "your version" from
above/ you can use the "save" to desktop if you choose.
2.) Go into ZA Overview/Preferences and Un-Check "Load Zone Alarm on Startup" on your current(soon to be un-installed version)

3.) Reboot Computer to Remove Zone Alarm drivers from Memory..
4.) Temporarily shut down any other
Anti-virus/ and- or Anti-spyware
Security programs
that May Conflict with ZA Install

5..) Click on Start -> Programs -> Zone Labs
RIGHT-click on Uninstall Zone Labs Security, then select Properties.
Under Target you will see the following line (the actual drive may be different on your system):
"C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninstexe"
Change it to:
"C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean (add a space and then the /clean)
Click OK to save the new command line.
Click on Start -> Programs -> Zone Labs -> Uninstall Zone Labs Security
Click OK to run the uninstaller, and OK any security alerts that pop up.
say "Yes when being prompted for the removal of all files and allow TrueVector to shut down.
- Reboot
Using something like this freeware 'CCleaner'
< >

http://forums.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/...message.id=155

, will help do the cleanup as well on both the Hard drive and the Registry . CCleaner will help clean up/ delete all or most of the old temp files/ corrupted files you may have.

Now You can Re-install the ZA 7.0.483 program.
Accept the default setting and choose TRUSTED ZONE and not the INTERNET ZONE..
follow on screen instructions..
Good Luck..

In addition:- don't use web accelerators(often used with dial-up)
nor download managers - temporarily shut-off/ shut down
- better to use Internet Explorer 6/ 7 - temporarily, instead of firefox for ZA install
- in your web browser - if it has security >trusted zone/ site list and pop-up blocker settings - adjust -
add "download.zonealarm.com" to safe-site/whitelist

and of any pop-blockers software you may have
- with Webroot SpySweeper, SpywareDoctor, CounterSpy, AVG guard, Windows Defender, etc.
- temporarily shut off the real time protective - shields, guards, watches, proactive protection, Ad-Watch, etc. Or just temporarily shut-down the software. [ Sometimes you will need to 'un-install' these security software, first before attempting ZA install {SpywareDoctor, SpySweeper } For some users they needed to un-install them first and then - able to install ZA. ]

Just prior to new downloading attempt, on your current ZA > go to "Overview" > Preferences > General - "uncheck the box for" = 'Load ZoneAlarm at startup' > click once, wait - it may take a few
seconds for it to register, but it will clear the box.[*]
Please restart/ reboot. <[*]>
Now, download and install your new 483. Unloading the current/ old version will ensure less conflicts between the old version and new version; after install you will have to re-start your pc.
Next time you post it would be advisable to list your...[*]Product Name:
ZoneAlarm

your ZA product

ZA Suite/ ZA Pro/ ZA Free, etc.

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition/ Vista, etc.
Software Version: 7.0 = { this is the version number of your ZoneAlarm product - not your Operating System } It would be advisable to enter the full version number of your ZoneAlarm product within your message post - ex. 7.0.462, 7.0470, 7.0473, 7.1.248, 6.5.737,
etc.
