Default Vsmon CPU usage

I did a clean install of the latest ZoneAlarm free last week and have noticed that every so often the PC will boot up and run slow. If I reboot all is fine again.
This occured again last night and a little investigation proved that it is VSMON using about 80% CPU.
This problem did not occur prior to the upgrade, it should also be noted that I am running CA-Antivirus.

I have the same problem with "vsom" CPU usage since installing the most recent Zone Alarm Update.
It contiually cylces been 90-100% CPU use (2 GB) and then back to normal.
I reinstalled Zone Alarm and no change.
I had to shut down Zone Alarm.
Otherwise my PC comes to a crawl.

Any advise or patches available?
Steve

Hi. Same here except that vsmon.com is only using 50% of the total cpu availability - not good on a laptop. However, in my case it just stays there permanently. I tried to shut it down via Task Manager but access was blocked, as it was when trying to access it via Admin..., System. Am going to close ZA and try again.

Well, that didn't work as expected. I could not disable vsmon even when ZA was not running and, although it didn't use any cpu time initially, as soon as I opened my browser again, it shot back up to 50% but then it did fall back to zero after a short time.

Maybe next time I shut my PC down it will shut down instread of having to switched off.

I have the same problem.

vmon **bleep**s 20-30% of my life (cpu time).

Please do something.

It seems that Spyware Doctor's Process Guard does not play nice with ZA. There is a known issue that PC Tools is investigating where the Spyware Doctor causes excess CPU usage for vsmon.exe. This was really never a big deal for me, but apparently with the newest ZA update, this conflict has risen to a new level. If I disable Process Guard then ZA functions normally.
Please note that ZA for XP does not always play nice with many security tools. For example, Norton,McAfee,ad-aware, Ad-watch, AVG 8, spybotS&D, Spyware Doctor, Spysweeper. For sure it cannot be installed if you have still another Antivirus software or Firewall (other than Windows Firewall) installed or active, however you may want to disable the NAV 2008 Internet Worm Protection as it acts like a mini inbound Firewall that will Conflict with ZA Firewall.
