    <ul>[*][*]Subject: windows update KB951748[/list]

windows update KB951748 has caused a significant problem with my XP operated computer.
I can no longer connect to the Internet.
my wifi connection has been checked out by the manufacturer and the computer is connected to the home network.
the cause is considered by them to be my security system - Zone Alarm Security Suite.

I downloaded the windows security update while unaware there was a potential problem.
thinking it was a problem with IE,
I returned to a previous restore point.
resolved the problem but only for it to return the next day as the update was automatically downloaded again!

I was still unaware of the problem.
I tried to go back to previous restore points without success, and then without warning the system crashed during my attempts.

I have restored the system and subsequently became aware of the ZA warning.
I do not have KB951748 installed as far as I know as recovering the system would eliminate all updates after SP2 and the update does not appear in recent updates, but I still cannot connect to the internet.
my wifi router manufacturer has suggested that the security suite is preventing this.
I have followed your fix but with no success.
I still cannot connect to the internet.

    does anyone
know how to resolve the problem, please?

I just did aClean Uninstall: (and everything works OK..(you may have to go into Program Control and check the settings for your other programs..)Try a clean unistall of the program then reinstall the program.....

1.) Download a Current Copy of Zone Alarm Security Suite from
ZA website in the release history section.

2.) Go into ZA Overview/Preferences and Un-Check "Load Zone Alarm on Startup"
3.) Reboot Computer to Remove Zone Alarm drivers from Memory..
4.) Temporarily shut down any other AV/AS Security programs that May Conflict with ZA Install

5..) Click on Start -&gt; Programs -&gt; Zone Labs
RIGHT-click on Uninstall Zone Labs Security, then select Properties.
Under Target you will see the following line (the actual drive may be different on your system):
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninstexe"
    Change it to:
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean (add a space and then the /clean)
Click OK to save the new command line.
Click on Start -&gt; Programs -&gt; Zone Labs -&gt; Uninstall Zone Labs Security
Click OK to run the uninstaller, and OK any security alerts that pop up.
say "Yes when being prompted for the removal of all files and allow TrueVector to shut down.
    - Reboot

Using something like this Freeware CCleaner &lt;---
, will help do the cleanup as well on both the Hard drive and the Registry .

Now You can Re-install the ZA program. Accept the default setting and choose TRUSTED ZONE and not the INTERNET ZONE..follow on screen instructions..Good Luck..

Please Post back with your progress Report..
