After installing the August 2008 MS Windows XP updates, Internet Explorer version 7.x can no longer access the Internet. Everything else, including FireFox v3.x and email using Outlook 2003 is working fine. The ZoneAlarm program log indicates that everything that iexplore.exe attempts is blocked. Trust Level in program control for Internet Explorer is three (III) and all items are checked green. The only thing I have noticed that may be a problem is the entry detail at the bottom of the program control screen shows the Internet Explorer version as 7.00.6000.16574 but if I "right click" and view the properties for iexplore.exe, the version is shown as 7.00.6000.16674. I have removed Internet Explorer from the program list and rebooted, but when it is added, it comes back as version 7.00.6000.16574. I have also removed KB953838 to no avail.

Any assistance will be appreciated.
