Thread: Just upgraded to 8.0.15 - cannot print to network printer

    Default Just upgraded to 8.0.15 - cannot print to network printer

    on 8/25 it was announced that 8.0.15 is not available.
    If you download the ZASS trial version, it's actually 8.0.15.
    So, since I was having so many problems with 7.1.254, I decided to try it.
    I'm keeping 7.1.248 on my other PC.
    Wonderful install, wonderful interface, but I can't print to my network printer on 192.168.0.25.
    The network 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 is in the trusted zone, as well as the printer.
    Microsoft Word just says, "do you want me to continue waiting for
    the printer", wordpad just hangs.
    7.1.248 was working.
    I just did a fresh install of 8.0.15.
    Nothing else.
    Default settings.
    Suggestions anyone?
    Alerts & logs are clean.
    Nothing being reported as blocked.

    Hi!
    If you shut down ZASS are you able to print?
    If yes, then try to reset the ZA settings.

    If not, there is something else than ZA blocking the printer.

    To reset the settings:

    1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
    2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
    3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
    4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
    5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
    6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    Try adding the printer's IP address to the Firewall Zones as Trusted.

    Sorry guys, tried both.
    I reset the settings, re-added my printer to the trusted zone, and still no luck.
    I can ping the network printer, I can connect to the admin page via Internet Explorer, so it's not the IP Address that's being blocked.
    I open up a simple text file via notepad.

    file-print hangs.
    If I shutdown ZASS (right-mouse the icon and
    shutdown) I can print.
    Moving the trusted zone slider from "medium" to "off" does nothing.
    Couple
    of thoughts.
    When
    ZASS is running,
    opening up the Control Panel takes forever, opening up the Printers folder takes forever, I right mouse on my printer and go to
    properties and everything hangs.
    Again same thing when the slider for the trusted zone
    is moved from
    Medium to off (even after reboot to ensure the changes really took place).
    This is interesting....I thought some required HP protocol
    was being blocked in the meduim (recommended) settings for the trusted zone.
    So I clicked on the custom button.
    From what I can tell, maybe I'm reading this wrong, but the "High security settings for the trusted zone" are identical to the "High security settings for the internet zone".
    Same for the medium.
    That's just weird.
    When I click on the "Reset to Default" button, nothing changes.
    So, for the "Medium security settings for the trusted zone", nothing is blocked, thus nothing for me to re-enable.
    I uninstall 8.0.15 and fall back to 7.1.248, everything is fine ('cept I'm running old code without parental controls).
    This should work right out of the box.
    My network is in the trusted zone, thus all the entities within that network.
    For example, I have another computer with a shared
    drive, 192.168.0.101.
    I don't have that specific IP address in the trusted zone, but I can move files to and fro without issue.
    So what's with the HP network printer?
    I know HP is a
    bad word, drivers are terrible, bloated, but it should still work out of the box.
    UPDATE:
    After poking around the "slow shutdown" treads, I tried the tech support suggestion of disabling the "on-access
    scan".
    Sure enough that worked.
    I was having the same problem with the 8.0.20 beta, so I'm sure we'll be seeing a new beta soon.
    I hope they fix this fast for their sake, again when you download the trial version of ZASS, it's 8.0.15, not 7.1.254.
    They're going to be losing business if they continue to push this out as the latest and greatest (greatest being the key word).

    Hi!
    the best is to go back to version 7 and ONLY update to newer version if you are advised by the software itself and not manual updating.
    Update servers will be activated only if no major issues are found.

    Before, you should report to ZA technical support about the issue. They may need to collect logs of your problem (ZA staff does not monitor this forum, we are all users).

    I too have just downloaded the latest version of ZA (8.0.020), causing my print functions to slow to a crawl. I have an HP printer (c6280). The reason I decided to post is that while my printer is network capable, it's not connected that way.....only directly to one computer via USB. So the problem may be more than just a network problem.My symtoms are similar to above....After clicking 'print', it takes several minutes for the print dialogue to appear. Then, when 'OK' (print) is clicked, it takes almost five minutes more to even see the printer icon in the tray and then eventually the printer prints.Turning off
    On Access scanning
    'solves' the problem.Hope there's a better way.
