Default Why does it take Internet Explorer such a long time to connect?

    Hello
    My present ZASS:
    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:8.0.059.000
    TrueVector version:8.0.059.000
    Driver version:8.0.059.000
    Anti-virus engine version:6.0.2.678
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version:963275251
    Anti-spyware engine version:5.0.202.0
    Anti-spyware signature DAT file version:01.200811.4805
    AntiSpam version:5.0.61.9957
Does anybody know why it takes Internet Explorer (7.0.5730.11) about 20 seconds to connect to the internet? I have a fast LAN connection, and with the previous ZASS version (7.0.483.000), it just took a
    second or two
to get connected. [ I must add that, once connected, things go all right. ]
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ananda

    Operating System:
    Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:
    8.0
    Product Name:
    ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Go to Program Control > Programs and make sure that Internet Explorer is assigned Super Trust Level (three green bars) and has five check marks.

know version 8, what are the 5 checks named in v8?

The five fields to set as checked are Access Trusted, Access Internet, Server Trusted, Server Internet, and Send Mail.

Ok, thanks. So no change. Same old categories of settings.
I wouldn't give IE trusted and untrusted server rights, nor send mail rights. Ever

Perhaps slow connection is due to DNS servers not trusted, or local host not trusted, or some change in IE due to updates. We don't know what setup is being discussed here, do we?
We don't know what's in the trusted zone, where are the sliders, what settings are in the IE ... not much to go on IMO

Thanks for the information - but I think
it had nothing to do with what you say, since I already had assigned Super Trust Level to IE, as well as five green check marks, from the very beginning.Even so, something must have happened to make it connect after only about twenty seconds. So I decided to put my previous Acronis Drive Image back (done just a few days before this weird thing started), and lo and behold, problem solved. So far 8.0.059.000 is behaving nicely - except for the weird fact that, at least on my side, not every (hourly)
connection for an antivirus update delivers an update. Apparently only when there is a real one. Which, all things well considered,
    makes sense.
    Kind regards,
    Ananda

By the way, zasuiteuser is right about no Trustet or Internet Server rights. I misread my own notes. Thanks for the correction.
