Default Zone Alarm prevents access to browsers

I am using the latest version of Zone Alarm. Today a problem came up whereby I could not access either Internet Explorer or Firefox. I discovered the cause to be Zone Alarm. When I shut it down, I was able to access the browser. Strangely enough, once having accessed the browser, I could restart Zone Alarm and everything worked normally.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

    Alsteel,
I am having the same problem with the Vista Home Edition. Remove all traces of ZA no problem - reload ZA problem returns. My feeling is that a Windows automatic update is the culprit. I have been following a similar thread in a Windows forum http://winvistaforums.com/windows-vi...r-while-16.htm This problem has now existed for some time. It is time Microsoft and Zone Alarmed liaised on this. Robert

Yes, I'm having the same problem as well, the Udated ZA Forcefield is not allowing me Priv - access to my updated browser of Firefox. Yes, I can access Firefox, but the Updated Forcefield is not working with the updated browers of Firefox which also has a connection to any other browser that I chose to use. Hey Mr. Wizard, can you make one of my favorite services (ZA Forcefield) compatible to my Firefox browser? -Adore the service- Looking for a compatible browser version...

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country,
without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..
If you would Describe your Computer Setup/OS and Version of Zone Alarm that you are having a problem with
and what difficulty you are having, and what Previous Version of ZA and Norton, McAfee or other Security programs that you have installed,
there are several knowledgeable Volunteer Participants willing to help you try solving your problem with Zone Alarm..Please provide as much detail and error messages etc. that you see on your ComputerMonitor. --------------------------------------------------------

GeorgeV, In my case I'm using Vista Home Edition, ZoneAlarm 8.0.298.000, Eset Nod32, Ad-aware, and Spybot. There is nothing to see sitting in front of the computer - I.E or Firefox browsers after varying lengths of time simply loose connectivity. Email programs are not affected. Other forums have, in some cases, quite extensive threads on the same problem. Reading through these the common link appears to be a Windows patch.

To troubleshoot ZASS/ZAX issues remove them and install back once you see that ZA works as it should. For example,Norton/Symantec, McAfee,Spyspweeper, Spyware Doctor, trojan hunter, adware, SpyBotS&amp;D, PC tools Threatfire, otherantivirus, antispyware, Registry Guard or locking tools, etc...some Computer Users think that if one Firewall and anti-Virus is good, two or three different ones running at the same time must be better?

6.)- have you properly un-installed any previous firewall and/or anti-virus?? = this needs to be done - http://forums.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/...message.id=154. Most new pc/laptops come with pre-installed security software, which should be properly un-installed prior to installing any ZoneAlarm firewall product. <HR>
