    Default ZA firewall and Adobe Flash Player.

    I guess I posted my message in the wrong place, so I'll do it again here:
    I evidently stopped Adobe from updating Flash Player.
    I did it because ZA told me it was a Suspicious file trying to connect to the web.
    I also didn't recognize ns53.exe as anything and doing a search online, it did look suspicious, so I told ZA not to allow it.
    However, later in the day, a site told me I needed to have Flash Player.
    (I was at the site last night and it worked fine, and I knew I had Flash.)
    So, I knew I'd screwed up Flash Players update.
    I tried to go into the Firewall and tell it the file was ok, but could find nothing in there.
    In fact, the log said it had never blocked anything, but I KNOW I'd blocked a lot of stuff, so I don't get that either.
    In the end, I tried to download it again, (Flash) and okay'd the "Install", but after a minute, I heard a blip and got absolutely nothing.
    The site still says I need Flash Player.
    I even tried uninstalling Flash, and reintalling, but got the same blip with no messages confirming install nor any error messages saying it didn't install.....just nothing but that blip sound.
    I don't want to be without Flash Player, but don't know what to do next.
    I hate to uninstall ZA, because then I won't have any anti-virus, let alone any firewall.
    (Well, I still have Windows Defender.)
    I have Windows XP and IE8.
    (I even double checked my security settings in IE, and they're set the way Adobe Flash says to set them.Carol

    I ran Start / Search with more advanced options.Search for ns53.exe.Nothing.I use Firefox.When to IE8 and install from Adobe web site.Installed and ran Search again.Nothing.

    If you install Flash Player always from Adobe web site.

    untick if you don't want Google Toolbar

    Test Flash Player at this site :

    To remove Flash Player, simply download and run the appropriate uninstaller for your system using the steps below.

    Hi!on top of Charles_B suggestionsto check for malware, you may also want (in case you don't find back under the ZA program control the entry(ies) you have blocked) to reset the ZA settings to the factory defaults. You will loose all your custom configuration.1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
    2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
    3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
    4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
    5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
    6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootAs a temporary measure you may also want to update flash player and the other blocked components with ZA turned off.Hope this helpsCheers,Fax

    You said the magic words when you said to download the uninstaller from Adobe.
    I had uninstalled Flash Player in the Add and Remove section of my Control Panel.
    I had no idea that wouldn't work for Flash.
    But, that was the problem, because after I followed your advice and went to the Adobe site and downloaded the uninstaller, then I was able to re-download and install a whole knew copy of Flash and it's working fine!

    Thank you too, because if I'd done that to begin with, I wouldn't have had to go through the mess I created going a different route!
