Default blocking the router IP

hi, my router has the ability to attach a USB storage device which I can map a network drive to

The router has the IP 192.168.1.1 and is the main gateway into my network

Zone alarm is blocking any attempt to map a network drive because it is not trusted, if I make my routers IP trusted, and my circumventing the firewall and basically trusting all traffic from the net in to my PC?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

No, you are only allowing the router IP not the internet. Normally your router will manage the DNS and/or the DHCP. So, it should be normally set as trusted in the ZA firewall tab.Cheers,Fax

Thanks, so zone alarm is looking at the source IP and if an external web site is the source, even though it comes via my router, it will ignore the router IP?

Hi!thats not how it works... but yes... IP of the router is different from traffic from outside routed via the router.Cheers,Fax
