Default I have read thru this forum and cannot find help for my q...

I have read thru this forum and cannot find help for my question.
I have been using ZA free for several years without any problems.
Several days ago, I tried cleaning out the "logs".
At one point, it asked me if I wanted to modify the registry.
I ignored it as I was only cleaning out log settings (so I thought)!
I tried to use the firewall after that.
It would not work.
I uninstalled it via add/remove programs, and then tried to reinstall it numerous times, including re-downloading the installation several times, and it hangs up during installation saying:
ZA-1025-ENGL has to close, kernel32.dll missing.
The app name is glb1b5.tmp.
I tried the windows sfc/ scannow, and it still won't install.
Can anyone help?

Operating System:Windows XP Pro
Software Version:7.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

This is gardenlady again, and I have some more information I forgot to include.
The message says "cannot load library C:\windows\kernel32.dll.

Thanks so much!
I have done disk check and defragmented my computer.
The only thing not working so far is cryptainer.
Why?
who knows.
It says system 32 path not found.
Sounds like I have to reformat.
I have already backed up everything!

I have this same problem, only for an old Windows ME computer that I use at university. On executing the Zonealarm basic installer, it immediately gets an kernel32.dll error and cancels. Could you please advise on how to fix the problem?

Much thanks in advance

Windows 98/98SE/Me Support Discontinued
http://www.zonealarm.com/store/support/win98MEusers.jsp

Dear Windows 98/98SE/Me Customer,

ZoneAlarm supports a balanced, multi-layered approach to security. An important part of this approach includes keeping software updated with the latest security patches.

Support Discontinued[/B]
On July 11, 2006, Microsoft will end support for Windows 98, 98SE and Me, which will have the resulting effect of making these operating systems less secure (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/sup...ofsupport.mspx). Windows 98/Me are older operating systems, and are therefore inherently more vulnerable to attacks than newer operating systems. Now that Microsoft will no longer provide security updates to these operating systems any PC running them will become increasingly prone to security vulnerabilities.

Accordingly, ZoneAlarm will cease to support Windows 98/98SE/Me with the introduction of our version 6.5 ZoneAlarm family of products[/B] including ZoneAlarm
Internet Security Suite, ZoneAlarm
Pro, ZoneAlarm
Antivirus, ZoneAlarm
Anti-Spyware, and ZoneAlarm
.
Note about pre-6.5 products:

Pre-6.5 products will continue to run on the Windows 98/98SE/Me operating system. However, there are a few new and advanced protection features in ZoneAlarm products that will not run due to technical limitations of this operating system. ZoneAlarm strongly recommends upgrading to a supported and current version of the Windows operating system.
ZoneAlarm may end services to pre-6.5 products at any time.
[/list]

There are no plans to discontinue support for any other Microsoft operating systems. This announcement applies to consumer products only and does not affect enterprise products.
