Just delete the GLb*.tmp files in the Temporary folders (in WINDOWS directory and the Documents and Settings). These file are only needed at the time of the ZA install- once the install is started and the installation reboot happens, the GLb*.tmp files are no longer needed. The install may have left GLb*.pf files in the WINDOWS\Prefetch folder- these too can be safely deleted. I can not see how or why the GLb*.tmp files interferred with a check disk. There is no official batch file from ZA for cleaning files. Oldsod

Use this as a guide for the ZA cleanup (quoted from Guru SlyFox's original post):

9.) For clean reinstall: Turn off your Anti Virus program and all other running programs, it's strongly recommended that you exit all Windows programs before running the Setup Program of ZoneAlarm. Double click the ZoneAlarm file icon on your PC to begin the installation wizard. Select a 'clean' install when asked.

10.) Go into the start menu locate the zonelabs entry and right click on the uninstaller and select properties. Now in the target box you must add a space and then /clean to the end so that it looks something like this "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean click apply and then OK. Next open ZA and turn off the load on boot option, then reboot and then run the uninstaller. This should get rid of all of ZoneAlarm. Now go to your windows temp folder and delete everything. Find the folder named Internet logs and delete it then empty your recycle bin.

11.) The following two threads will instruct YOU and to make sure, YOU have COMPLETELY REMOVED all the OLD ZONE ALARM FILES, from your computer. It is "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED", that YOU FOLLOW THIS INSTRUCTIONS.

    http://nh2.nohold.net/noHoldCust25/P...tallNonNT.html

    http://nh3.nohold.net/noHoldCust25/P...tallNonNT.html

12.) Need more help Help with ZoneAlarm? There's a red Search! > option at the bottom of the page to find your answer or PLEASE go to the following site and you will find "Excellent Instructions" on uninstallment of Zone Alarm.
    http://www.donhoover.net/uninstall.html

13.) ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER, IF YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN TO ITEM #5.

********NOTE: REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY, BEFORE MESSING AROUND WITH ANYTHING IN THERE. IN CASE SOMETHING SHOULD GO WRONG, AT LEAST YOU CAN GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL SETTINGS.

14.) Click on Start, then Search or Find, and select Files. Make sure that the location box is set to search your Local Hard Drive (usually C or All Local Drives). XP users, set advanced search options to search ALL Files and Folders!

Type the following exactly - delete any folders found:

    vsconfig.xml
    zlcommdb.dll
    zlcomm.dll
    vsxml.dll
    vsdb.dll
    vsregexp.dll
    vsdata.dll
    imsinstall.dll
    imlsp.dll
    vsdata95.vxd
    vsdatant.sys
    zllictbl.dat
    vsmon.*
    vsmonapi.dll

    zonealarm.exe
    zoneband.dll
    vsinit.dll
vsutil.dll (please right-click, Properties -> Version to be sure it
is a ZA file. Do NOT delete this file unless it is a Zone Labs file!)

GLB*.* (delete any of these that you find in any of your TMP or
    TEMP folders)

Type the following exactly - delete any files found in any folder
    with "Programs" in the pathname):

    zapro
    zonealarm
    "zonealarm pro" (including quotes)

    3. Make sure your Recycle Bin is empty (right-click and select
    Empty).

Please follow these steps to clear your Temp directories:

    1. Open 'My Computer'.

    2. Right click the 'C:'.

    3. Select 'Properties'.

    4. Click the 'Disk Cleanup' button.

    5. When the menu comes up, remove all checks EXCEPT 'Temporary
    Internet Files' and 'Temp Files'.

    6. Click 'OK' at the bottom, then 'YES'.

Please follow these steps to remove the registry entry also:

    01.) Click Start, Run
02.) Type "Regedit" in the Run box without the quotes, Click OK
    03.) Click the + next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
04.) Click the + next to Software
05.) Locate and left click the folder labeled: Zone Labs
06.) Press delete on your keyboard, click Yes
    07.) Close the Registry Editor
    08.) Reboot

15.) ALSO, PLEASE MAKE SURE THE FOLLOWING FILES ARE GONE, PERHAPS SOME OF THE INFORMATION ARE THE SAME AS IN ITEM # 14, BUT WE NEED TO MAKE SURE ALL FILES ARE GONE, PRIOR TO REINSTALLMENT OF ZONE ALARM, IF NOT THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS, AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT WILL CAUSE.

    DELETE:
    1) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Zone Labs
    2) C:\Program Files\Zone Labs
    3) C:\WINDOWS\Internet Logs (Empty Contents)
    4) C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Zone Labs
    5) C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\zonealarm (pro)
    6) C:\WINDOWS\System32\vsdata.dll
    7) C:\WINDOWS\System32\vsdatant.sys
    8) C:\WINDOWS\System32\vsmonapi.dll
    9) C:\WINDOWS\System32\vsnetutils.dll
    10) C:\WINDOWS\System32\vspubapi.dll
    11) C:\WINDOWS\System32\vsutil.dll
    12) C:\WINDOWS\System32\Zone Labs
    13) C:\WINDOWS\Temp (Empty Contents)

Go into the registry, Find & F3 and DELETE:

    14) Zone Alarm
    15) ZoneAlarm
    16) ZoneAlarm Pro
    17) Zone Labs
    18) minilog
    19) InternetAlert
    20) ZAMailSafe and all sub-keys.
    21) zapro.exe
    22) VSMON
    23) VSDATANT

    24) Run; ' regedt32 ' give 'Security' permission to 'Everyone' and delete:

    HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_VSMON
    HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_VSDATAN T

    25) AND;

    HKLM\System\ControlSet002\Enum\Root\LEGACY_VSMON
    HKLM\System\ControlSet002\Enum\Root\LEGACY_VSDATAN T
    ---------------------------------------------------------
Verify to ensure the above has removed all these keys from the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zone Labs

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\SharedDLLs\XXXXXX

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\ZoneAlarm Pro

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsmon

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsdatant

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\minilog

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zone Labs

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels\InternetAl ert

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\ InternetAlert

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZAMailSafe
    ------------------------
Last but not least, delete the hidden license file in C:\WINDOWS\system32 called 'zllictbl.dat '

16.) I recommend you to go through your entire registry and make sure all the files that are on the uninstall instructions are checked one by one. As it only takes one little registry key or file, to cause problems.

17.) **NOTE** After you have successully uninstalled your old version of Zone Alarm and NO OLD FILES are causing any type of problems, then run the new installer to install Zone Alarm. Remember the one you downloaded on to your desktop, prior to uninstalling your Zone Alarm and hopefully you downloaded a FRESH COPY not the very same installer.

18.) These are the basic uninstall Zone Alarm instructions, they SHOULD UNINSTALL all your old Zone Alarm files. If for some reason you still have problems, YOU DID NOT FOLLOW THESE EXACT INSTRUCTIONS PROPERLY, THEREFORE YOU NEED TO GO BACK AND CHECK EACH FILE AND MAKE SURE IT DOES NOT EXIST IN YOUR COMPUTER. Now, if it continues to stop your installation of Zone Alarm, then PLEASE post your question or questions giving our Volunteers exact error code messages, or anything that can help us solve your exact problem.

    THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK!

"Politeness costs nothing and gains everything".

Still, you are used a batch file of your own design or one that was going a round a few years ago and was never originally correct and has since become outdated.

You may find some drivers from the AV (and their corresponding registry keys by their names) in the WINDOWS\system32\drivers folder. Some thing like kl1f and kl1n and maybe one or two others and possible one extra file installed on the harddrive itself (non directory). Also look for a srescan registry key and delete it.

The check disk issue is known by the Kaspersky antivirus. It affects only a very small percentage of users, but it does happen. The ZA free and the ZA Pro for Vista do not have any check disk issues with Vista. On the other hand, the check disk issue could be caused by something else other than the kaspersky antivirus found in the ZAISS Vista.
