Thread: build 408 - no updates for AV and AntiSpyware definitions?

Default build 408 - no updates for AV and AntiSpyware definitions?

Clean install of build 408 but I have not been getting any updates for AV and Antispyware on the hour, like I used to with the 337 build. Manual updates seem to work, but not the automatic ones (yes, the options for automatic updates are enabled).

Anyone else? Any solutions?

Operating System:Windows XP Pro
Software Version:7.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

Hi!Welcome back! Answer; Wait that the scheduled scan is perfomed... it will start autoupdating after the scheduled scan. (on default settings it will start the same day at 12:30AM if you installed ZA before 12AM or the day after 12:30AM if you installed ZA after 12AM)If for any reason you have revised the scheduled scan than you will need to wait more... or up to when you have set your scan to start.Forcing scheduled scan to run will not help you to get the updates sooner... you need to let it go on its own.Cheers,Fax

Why are these 2 things related? That was certainly not the case with tbuild 337. I will reschedule the automatic scans to occur very soon and see if this fixes the auto-update issue, though I highly doubt it that's the problem.

Hey, what do you know ... automatic updates started working after a couple of days! The scheduler it clearly busted, how can it not work for 2 days and then it starts working. I know it's the scheduler because in the logs there were no signs of even trying to get AV updates, then today at 12 noon I got the first one ... Why can't ZA just fix these little bugs?? Can't be rocket science!

Hi!As you perfectly know... there is no use to post this here...Please write directly to tech. support or customer support. As already told from the beginning this is the way the updater works on some setup... why? No idea...Cheers,Fax

Here's the level of service that ZA's Customer Support provides to my report that automatic updates don't work after a clean install:

"I understand that you are unable to get automatic updates.
Please open ZoneAlarm, click antivirus -> main, and then click the
advanced options button.
Click updates on the left, put checks in both boxes, and then click ok.
Please do this, and see if this resolves this issue."

Thanks for the obvious, ZA!

Hi!yes, thats normal and correct. Many forgets about the switch...Support has to follow certain steps before suggesting other workaround or passing the issue to developers They simply don't have the crystal ball or read your system remotely and understand that your AV/AS updates boxes are indeedchecked...You should have answered that your boxes are checked and that the updates started... bla bla... etc..Cheers,Fax
