Default Update denied - "Installation Conflict with CA Anti-virus"

Prompted to install update (70.488) so I tried it.
Stopped cold by the message: Update denied - "Installation Conflict with CA Anti-virus; please uninstall CA Anti-virus and try again".
You probably know what's coming - I don't have CA Antivirus. It came with the computer, and my first act was to uninstall it.

Any thoughts or ideas how I deal with this?

No emergency, I have ZA version 6.5.737 running. Thanks.

    Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

    chicagotom,
there is a known issue with CA not uninstalling properly
You'll need to manually uninstall and can find file names and further instructions at this thread:

    Does this help you?

Thanks to you, Findley, I found detailed instructions for uninstalling all traces of CA Antivirus. All I had left was the drivers and the dll's.
I deleted the drivers, but the dll's were tricky.
I could not delete them - "file is in use".
So I renamed them, and rebooted.
Got a message that yop.exe would not load because it couldn't find isafprod.dll, one of the CA dll's.
Who'd have figured a non-CA program uses a CA dll?

Anyway, tried again to install the update, got the same !!@@!! error message about CA anti-virus being present. Also, ZA is giving me a warning - TrueVector Security service is shut down.
    Looks like I'm going backwards.
    Any more ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    chicagotom,
If you're still having problems with the CA uninstall, don't keep trying to install Zone Alarm until you've cleared CA.
Here's another link to a thread about uninstalling, give it a go and see if it helps

I suggest you read through the entire thread as there are some very good suggestions there in my opinion.
