Default Unable to install, unable to unistall

Trying to install (upgrade) to ZoneAlarm 7.0.408 hangs. After asking about installation method (upgrade or clean install), it just hangs. In task manager I see the process running, and there's also a related process named GLBxx.tmp (xx changes) using 99 % of the cpu time. Tried both upgrade and clean installation.

Tried also uninstalling, but had no luck. The message is: Uninstall failure. The uninstaller cannot locate resources needed to uninstall.

Could this be related to Kaspersky anti virus since the upgrade has worked great prior to installing Kaspersky?

    Thx,
    Pete

Vieraissa - some recent changes in the new version ZA 7 x Free version XP/2000
-"only", which we ourselves slowly discovered - There is a ZA Security Suite
hidden underneath the ZA 7x Free. Which the 'phantom' non-functioning Kaspersky av in there (may ?
    conflict with your
    anti-virus plus other functions)

Even in a 'dormant state' Kaspersky drivers and files, are 'intrusive/indomitable' with other anti-virus - [even with another &quot;free standing Kaspersky av&quot; = this is an actual recent post - I just answered {with Fax, too} ] - http://forums.zonealarm.org/zonelabs...ssage.id=72292<hr>1st
    Option - Firstuninstall/delete ZA 7 x
Free and then install the old version 6.5.737 ZA Free
of Aug. 31, 2006 - here is the link -

    http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html
. -to the Release History page -
go to 6.5 Branch - and find 6.5.737.000 - to download this version, if successful; your
system will be working again} - [ later, you may get a ZA program update box - you may not want to automatically update that - this would be an update to the new ZA 7 x Free, again,
    - not again - tell it to remind you in 60 days- repeat and rinse, wait until further developments]. { In &quot;Overview&quot; &gt; 'Preferences' &gt; 'Check for Updates'
&gt; you could put on &quot;Manually&quot; instead of Automatically }.<hr>2nd

Option- others who wish to upgrade to ZA 7x, on a budget - an alternative to rolling back or staying with ZA 6.5 Free - I would suggest going up a level in security by getting ZoneAlarm Anti-Spyware 7.0.337 - at about 14.2 MB it's just a bit more than ZA 6.5 Free plus you get a &quot;real improvement in firewall protection&quot; and a &quot;top rated anti-spyware&quot; -
for $19.95 for one year of updates - http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte...mp;lid=ho_zaas
. This ZA product has the Operating System Firewall (OS Firewall) which is more advanced than the simple firewall in ZA free versions; in all of the paid versions of ZA products - this the heart of ZA protection - see comparison chart - click left tabs for more info. -
    http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte...st2_comparison
. This a simple to use, less complicated ZA firewall product than ZA suite. I use it myself. With this version, you can use any brand of anti-virus you choose. No worries, no complications. According, to some recent test/reviews - it top rates at #1 or Editor's Choice - see Cnet test/review dated March 19, 2007 - http://reviews.cnet.com/ZoneAlarm_An....html?tag=tool .<hr>3rd
Option - if you can 'refund' your free standing Kaspersky anti-virus,
    after un-installing - you can install ZA Anti-virus =
    get better/upgraded ZA
firewall + Kaspersky av - what a coincidence.
    http://www.zonealarm.com/store/conte..._list_zaav.jsp
.<hr><hr>As for your stuck pc, from the known - un-install your free standing Kaspersky av and then un-install your present ZA Free firewall - http://forums.zonealarm.org/zonelabs...message.id=103
. You may need to go to Kaspersky website to get a special Kaspersky remover/un-installer if necessary.<hr>Then you will have to decide on of the three options I have prescribed or go for another option/path of your choice. Whatever you choose, I would suggest the download of the firewall first, restart/or reboot get it up and running (and then install anti-virus - unless you choose Option #3)<hr>NaiveMelody NYC 10-31-07 - The Magnificent Seven - The Clash

Thanx for a quick response, SlyFox!

Just had some time to try the suggestions mentioned in the above link.
    No luck at all.

    There was 3 options:
    1) Uninstall ZA7x free.
-&gt; It will not uninstall. Complaining about missing components.

    2) Staying with 6.5.737
I downloaded (several times with Firefox and IE) the version 6.5.737 but it does not install.
    -&gt; Complains about it's not a win32 setup file.

    3) Buying ZA Anti-virus
I just paid Kaspersky for 3 years, so I do not see this as an option.

    Regards,
    Pete
