Default Problems with the latest upgrade

Hi everyoneWell this is an update on my problems logged on the 29th. Maybe it will help other people.
I am running win2000 and installed the upgrade to zone alarm pro. Wow after rebooting to install the system died and I could only get some response every 2 minutes - some speedy response!
Eventually I found that the cpu was running at 100%. On looking (after much huffing and puffing) I found that vsmon and scanning process had most of the processes.
Even though I stopped zone alarm from starting these two processes kept on running so after much pain and effort I managed to uninstall completely. Hey presto everything runs tickety boo.
This seems to have been as disaster because an email to customer services was bounced to tech support - but no reply yet.... maybe they are bogged down in complaints.

Perhaps someone could also explain why Zone Alarm Pro would do any scanning at all. I thought only the ZASS suite did scanning, ostensibly for virus's and spyware, but that ZAP is "firewall only".
