Default ZA causing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) referencing fwpkclnt.sys

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on a laptop about 2 months old. I have completely removed all traces of the pre-installed Norton 360 program using Symantec's program.

I am running AVG Anti-Virus (Free Version Only) I have disabled Windows Firewall and Windows Defender prior to installation, and downloaded the latest certified Vista-Compatible version.

The installer has been attempted "Run as Administrator" and also normally.

It gets to either 99% installed and then the BSOD happens or else it gets to Setting up Zonealarm and then the BSOD happens.

    I see

    STOP 0x000000D1 IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and fwpkclnt.sys a bit further down on the screen.

Windows does a full memory dump. I have tried everything I can find on here and still no luck! What is ZoneAlarm's problem with Windows Vista and how do I fix it? I don't want to use Windows built-in **bleep**py firewall!

    Operating System:Windows Vista Home Premium
    Software Version:7.1 (Vista)
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

Could ZA have a problem with AVG?

AS far as I know there are no conflicts with ZA and AVG antivirus. Try some odf the ideas batted around in the following thread....http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...ssage.id=45105

UPDATE: I ran Microsoft Windows Debugging Tools (available at: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtoo...g/default.mspx) and this is what I got.

    Hope this helps!

Hi,The following will help you find your answer to your issues you are having with ZA.RE: Instant Support Knowledge Base - Applys to ALL Paid and Free Members.

For the Members who are using the FREE Version of ZoneAlarm, this feature will help you find your answers to your questions, if you do not receive it from the ZA Forum. Unfortunately you will only receive Tech Support help if you have a Valid License Key for any ZA Paid Product versions. But, the Instant Support Knowledge Base IMHO Only, does offer quite a lot of very interesting solutions for most issues of ZA, you may want to check this out.

    *****NOTE******

PLEASE USE FIREFOX WITH JAVASCRIPT ENABLED WHEN GOING TO THE FOLLOWIN LINK. If you use I.E. 7, you will get a page that will have an error message at the top of it and you will end up going around in circles. So, instead of the run around, PLEASE USE FIREFOX WITH JAVASCRIPT ENABLED, THANKS.

Here is the direct link, if you are interested:

    http://www.zonealarm.com//store/cont...rt/support.jsp

Scroll down the list until you see Instant Support and then click on it, and it will bring you to the Instant Support Knowledge Base. Just follow the on screen instructions.

PLEASE keep me posted on your results,THANKS
