    Default Reinstalling zonealarm free edition

    Hi,

Here is my problem. I have no idea idea how it happened, but my zonealarm free edition has been uninstalled and I didn't do it! There's also Norton Internet security to which the same thing happened. now I'm trying to reinstall zonealarm, it stops @ 7%. I get this message :"The file C:\Windows\system32\file name\vsmon.exe could not be found"
I removed every file of zonealarm and every key from the registry, SOL!! Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Kamel

    Hi!
did you boot your system in SAFE MODE? Have you deleted ALL ZA files?

That message means you still have ZA left overs in your system.

See here how to completely remove ZA:

    Hi Fax,

Thanks for you message. Booting my computer in safe mode, that I didn't do. The problem is that I do not have Zoenalarm installed. It has been uninstalled "by itself". I didn't uninstall it. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it another try.

    Hi!

yes, when such ZA corruption happens you will not see ZA working, however ZA drivers will still load.

You need to manually remove ZA in SAFE MODE since in normal mode files to be removed will be locked and you will not be able to remove them.

Thanks Fax. Hopefully I'll manage to start my computer in safe mode, because when I choose that option, it comes back to the same menu options (pressing F8 @ the startup).

    Hi!
not sure I understand, your restarted your system you pushed on F8 and then you get a black/white screen with various safe mode options, choose the first one -number 1- (boot in SAFE MODE)...

You can try also to boot in SAFE MODE via the MSCONFIG:

    1) Close all open programs.
    2) Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
    3) The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and 4) Restart your computer when prompted.
    5) The computer restarts in Safe mode.
    6) Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode.
    7) When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck "/SAFEBOOT" and click OK to restart your computer
