Default How to reset ZA to basic "factory settings" ?

In the context of diagnosing a computer problem I want to reset my ZAPro 7.0.462.000 to the original "factory settings", i.e. to delete all the
permissions I have given over the last few months and start anew. Is there any way to do this apart from de-installing ZAPro and re-installing it ?

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Pro

    Hi!

    Try this:
1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

The above works only with the latest ZA version.
If you do not have the latest version please update to it (Clean install option).

    Cheers,

Thank you very much for this rapid and clear reply. I wonder why this fairly basic function needs this arcane method to trigger it (i.e. hold down Ctrl and Shift, right click on the icon, etc) rather than having a simple button in ZAPro. Curious. I had looked for the solution in the Help file without finding anything.

A possible addition to your neat, clean list of instructions: backup the current settings to allow a rollback if needed (ZoneAlarm - Overview - Preferences - Backup and Restore Security Settings - Backup).

    Anyway, thanks again. Greatly appreciated.

    You're welcome Tell!

yes, I guess it is done to avoid triggering the reset by mistake.... there are many users that would not know or understand that resetting the database is quite destructive action in the context of ZA. So, personally I happy that ZA developers didn't make it too evident or easy to perform... still, once you know, its not really so difficult.

On your settings backup, yes... but the last thing you would like to do is to restore potentially corrupted or incorrect settings otherwise you would not need to reset them in the first place.
