Default Installer contains variant of Win32/AdInstaller

    Hi there!

First sorry for my bad English, but I hope you understand what I wanted to say.

After using my ZA v7.0.362.000 (German Version on Win2K SP4 German) a long time and no Update available (even automatic search or manual click on search for updates) I decided to download a new Installer to see why version really is actual at the moment (the updater didn
t work on some older versions too).

On the (original) website I got "zaSetup_de.exe" which wanted to download "zlsSetup_70_462_000_de", but my antivirus (NOD32 Antivirus with actual signatures) blocked the file an said it contains a variant of "Win32/AdInstaller" and moved it into quarantaine.

Where can I get a virusfree version?

I gave the board a search before posting this, but I found no match - so sorry if this question was told before, then please drop me a link. Thank you.

    Operating System:Windows 2000 Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

    Thank you for your answer.

    But...

After I had disabled my Nod32-Antivirus so that I could download and start the installer I found out, that there is no such checkbox to disable this toolbar in my version!

    Proof-screenshot:

and here the proof-screenshot that the file originaly is from your servers:

    http://www.sdv-fusion.de/wow/pics/te..._Bedrohung.jpg

There you can see the blocked file and url that the mini-installer wants to access.

And a little bit more text from this forum:

So, I decided to keep my very old version and I will be searching for another firewall solution which is not that tricky to install (many times I had to completely uninstall it first before update - one time I had to uninstall my virusscanner first before I could install ZA , and so on and on). Once I planned to buy this software, but sorry I don
t give away money for nagging me.

    Anyone who don
t have problems with ZA - be happy and may ZA keep your PC clean as it did mine (when it ran).

    If the boardadmin doesn
t want that blame post, plz don
t delete it completely, just remove my statement and keep the links above alive for others that may be interested in the Adware problem.

I would have done the exact same thing as you have done.
I could point out the paid versions of the ZA (such as the ZA Pro and the ZA AntiSpy) do not include the ask toolbar package.

The NOD 32 and the ZA Antispy (latest release) work brilliantly together. This is my personal experience on my own desktop.
(however there are plenty of alternative and very fine freeware software firewalls available).
