    Default Installation Problems

    Hi:
I have been a long user (several years)
of ZoneAlarm and downloaded the upgrade for ZAPro and it is not working.
The status for blocked intrusions is zero (0) and I still have the same "inbound protection, outbound protection, email protection and anti-spy numbers that I had before the download upgrade.

    I
am also getting a ZA error message that says "A serious error has occurred.
    Please restart your computer.
Before restarting, be sure to save your work and close any open files.
Do you want to restart your computer now?
    Yes/No".
    I have restarted my
computer several times and within about 30 minutes that same message pops up.

I have no spyware program, other than the one that comes with ZAPro and I am using free AVG Antivirus (a long user of that product also).
What's wrong and what should I do?
    Hershey

Hi!was it a clean install or upgrade (preserving ZA configuration). It looks like your ZAPRO settings are corrupted or not imported correctly.Try to reset them:1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after rebootCheers,Fax

    Hi..thanks for your reply.
I did that twice and when I got to the point where it said it would restart my computer, it never did.
Also, I am still getting alerts, but still getting the same serious problem error message, still no blocked intrusions.
    What now?

Hi!Nope, than you should completely remove ZA with /clean and /rmlicense switches and reinstall...First removeZA following closely this instructions:http://www.nohold.net/noHoldCust25/P...n_install.htmlThen check your system is OK, that there are no error messages and that the system isfree of malware.Scan for malwarewith KAV: http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscannerAnd clean temp and registry with ccleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/bui...wnloading-slimIf everything is working well, now install again ZAPRO.Download a fresh installer. Hi Again:
I already have AVG....do I need this virus scanner also, and if so, how will it affect the ZoneAlarm having two antivirus programs?
    Thanks!

Hi!Ehm.. its an online scanner it will not install permanently on the system.Or you can use the standalone scanner by DrWeb. Here: http://freedrweb.com/
