Default Cannot Uninstall ZASS 7 - Computer Unusable

I am running ZASS 7.0.462 (or trying to) in a W2000 Pro system. It used to work fine, but something went wrong during a recent ZASS automatic update attempt, and it now takes 20+ minutes for the computer to boot up and several minutes to respond to a single keystroke, if I can even get that far. I have tried uninstalling ZASS in both the normal and safe boot modes.
I thought safe mode would prevent any ZASS processes from starting up. However, in both cases, add/remove function does not work and
I get the following message - "The installer was unable to stop the TrueVector software service." It goes on to tell me to make sure all other TrueVector based programs have been closed. I have no idea what those may be. Thus, I am dead in the water. How can I get ZASS off my machine and try to start over? Is there a tool available to do that or some ZASS process I can try to access and stop using Program manager?

    Operating System:Windows 2000 Pro
    Software Version:7.0

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>TrueVector is vsmon.exe and is the first thing that loads when your computer start to Boot up and is the last thing to shut down when your computer shuts down, in order to completely protect your computer, and what TrueVector is running, it will not allow a New Copy of Truevector to over-write it while it is still Running.. for that reason TrueVector is designed to be hard to Turn off, to prevent Virus/Trojans etc from infecting your computer and turning it off..That is why there is a Manual Switch to Turn TrueVector OFF, go to ZA Main Menu, Overview/Preferences and UN-Check "Load Zone Alarm on Start-Up", then Reboot the Computerthat way TrueVector will not be loaded into Memory and you can Uninstall ZoneAlarm or Install a New copy without Conflict by ZA, you might still Experience Conflict if you have any other 3rd Party Security programs installed while Installing Zone Alarm..Also, For Windows 2000 and Win2000 Pro, you must have Updated to Service pack 4, you you could have Conflict installing a Current copy of Zone Alarm..--------------------------------------------------------

It would be an understatement to say this is becoming very frustrating. I still cannot get vsmon.exe out of the computer. I tell ZA to not load when booting, but it comes back anyway. When vsmon is running as a process, I kill it (I think?) with Task Manager, which then indicates it is no longer a running process. The I try install/remove again, and again fail because &quot;TrueVector cannot be shut down&quot;. When I look at Task Manager again, there is good old vsmon back on the active list again. After the Task Manager kill attempt, there is an exception processing message c00000b5 with Parameters 7cc31d6c (repeated four times). I have been unable to find any reference to that message on the internet, and don't know what it means. This isn't making any sense to me. Is it possible that ZA has been highjacked by some kind of virus? I was never linked to the internet without ZASS being active, but
I suppose anything is possible. I will appreciate any further insight.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>it seems that the update really went wrong.
Now you need to completely remove ZA manually and re-install.

    First, please uninstall ZoneAlarm from your Start -&gt; Programs -&gt;
ZoneAlarm menu if it is present (and if you are able to)Try a clean unistall of the program then reinstall the program.....

1.) Download a Current Copy of Zone Alarm Security Suite from
ZA website in the release history section.

    http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html

2.) Go into ZA Overview/Preferences and Un-Check "Load Zone Alarm on Startup"
3.) Reboot Computer to Remove Zone Alarm drivers from Memory..
4.) Temporarily shut down any other AV/AS Security programs that May Conflict with ZA Install

5..) Click on Start -&gt; Programs -&gt; Zone Labs
RIGHT-click on Uninstall Zone Labs Security, then select Properties.
Under Target you will see the following line (the actual drive may be different on your system):
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninstexe"
    Change it to:
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean /rmlicense (add a space and then the /clean)
Click OK to save the new command line.
Click on Start -&gt; Programs -&gt; Zone Labs -&gt; Uninstall Zone Labs Security
Click OK to run the uninstaller, and OK any security alerts that pop up.
say "Yes when being prompted for the removal of all files and allow TrueVector to shut down.
    - Reboot

Now Start again in the Safe mode and delete these files in the Windows Directory:

    WINDOWS\ Internet Logs

    Program Files\Zone Labs

    WINDOWS\system32\ Zonelabs

    Now Reboot

Using something like this Freeware CCleaner &lt;--- http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_S...bar_d4191.html
, will help do the cleanup as well an both the Hard drive and Registry .

Now Re-install the ZA program now.
