Thread: cannot install ZA Security Suite update 470

Default fixed???

I think ZA still has a bug in 470. (I really hate to point this out) After my fresh download and license key offering I looked at the ZA info page and saw that I had a fresh 2 years on my subscription dating from my fresh download! Maybe this is compensation for my 2 days of struggling with recovery from the upgrade mess.

ZA sure seems to have a bug. After faulting the upgrade on my own 4 machines I tried the upgrade on my office machines, 4 out of 7 had major problems. 2 others it would not install at all. The 7th did work and there was no difference between all 7 machines. Same OS XP same software and same prior ZASuite version.

I found these instructions in a 2004 reply. Did all but the registry editing (saved that for desperate times). Did the trick. The new install worked and the license key was successfully accepted.
I neglected to give that my system is WINXP/SP2, fully up to date, with no add-on runtime stuff and just routine commercial software. Why the 470 upgrade barfed on my PC is a puzzle. If anyone from ZA wants a copy of my directory or registry or anything else to debug this upgrade install I'm willing to provide it. I really like ZA and want it to continue being successful.

Thanks for your help.

Hi!to avoid any problem during upgrade, just follow these simple four steps1. Download the installer2. On your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under overview --> preferences tab)3. Reboot the system4. Install the new update (clean or upgrade)For what it counts, I have updated two systems here (without doing the above) and the update process worked flawlessly.Cheers,Fax

Tried the "No load at start up" no difference doing upgrade

Task Manager reports 95% CPU usage for Scanning Process.

Same problem on HP Laptop and Dell Desktop

Reloaded a fresh Win XP Pro OS on the Laptop with the only other software loaded as ZA 7.0.462
and attempted to do a upgrade to 7.0.470.
Same problem system locked up and Task Manager reports 90% CPU usage by Scanning Process.

Hi!High CPU usage is anothe issue as compared to the OP post...and different are the solutions to apply. Including resetting ZA database or selective start-up of applications.Cheers,Fax
