Default True Vector Security is Shut Down

Hi All:I'm pulling my hair out on this one.I have ZASS version 7.0.462.00 and Anti Spam version 5.0.6.8903 -- full license versions
I logged onto my computer yesterday and saw the big red X where the Zone Alarm Z should be.
"True Vector Security is Shut Down".
Went to the control center and noticed that the anti-virus was in red mode and needed to be updated.
When I tried to update it I received a message stating that system could not contact http://zonelabs.com/zonealarm/online//catalog.zip.
Back to the Control Center I noticed that the last anti-virus scan was 3/13.
    (The anti-spam
scanned and updated on 3/28 and is in
    green mode.)

I ran a scan but it just kept running & running after 4.5 hours I shut it down.
I used MS to restore my pc to the last time I knew it was working correctly (3/27) but that did not fix the True Vector issue.

Also, on in the Control Center the Overview/Status displays this error:
    System error. Please reboot.
Well I've done that repeatedly to no avail.
I tried to uninstall & reinstall ZASS but received this msg:
"True Vector Internet monitor was not installed.
The installer was not able to stop the true vector software services.
This will happen if other software is using the True vector Engine. To uninstall Zone Alarm Security Suite make sure all other True vector based programs have been closed."
I went to Control Panel & Administrative Services.
I tried to manually shut down True Vector, but it would not let me.
The version I have is for 3 PCs.
The other two systems are running fine.
This one just won't let me get past go.
    Can anyone help?.
    Thanks so much!Phyllis

Hi!Completely remove ZASS installed on your system following the instruction below. Please don't rush and do them all. Please remove any other security tool you have installed (e.g. adaware, spyware doctor, windows defender, SpybotS&D, etc.). Install back only if really needed and only if ZASS works as it should.Cheers,Fax--------------------First, please uninstall ZoneAlarm from your Start -> Programs ->
ZoneAlarm menu if it is present (and if you are able to)

    01.) Restart your computer
02.) When you see the screen go black and it starts booting back up keep
tapping the "F8" key (at the top of your keyboard)
03.) This should bring up a menu. Choose Safe Mode off the menu by
using the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Safe Mode and press
    Enter
04.) If you get a message asking to go to Safe Mode, choose Yes. If you
get a help and support window, close this.
05.) Once you are at the desktop, Click Start, My Computer
06.) Click Tools, Folder Options, View Tab
07.) Place a dot next to "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
08.) Remove the check from "Hide Protected Operating System Files
    (Recommended)"
09.) Choose Yes to the warning
    10.) Click OK
    11.) Double click C:

Note: In the future steps if you do not see any files or folders, please click
the "Show Files" link to view them.

12.) Double Click the Program Files Folder
13.) Right Click the Zone Labs Folder, click Delete, and choose Yes

NOTE: If you cannot delete the entire folder, please open the Zone Labs -
    > ZoneAlarm folder and delete out as many of the files listed here as
    possible.

    14.) Close this window
    15.) Click Start, My Computer
    16.) Double Click the C:
17.) Double Click the Windows Folder (It may also be WinNT)

desktop, click Start >> Run >> and type regedit. Click on Help >> Help
Topics. Under the Contents tab, click Change Keys and Values (this may

    26.) Restart the computer.
27.) Re-download the installer. Here: www.zonealarm.com\zasuitedownload\28.) and install again.

I started seeing this same thing today also. It totally locked up my system and I was unable to tell zone alarm not to start at system startup (so I could troubleshoot). The application really appeared FUBAR. Is there something going on in zone alarm that is causing it to corrupt itself?? Before I uninstall I'd like to be sure there aren't logs somewhere that I can provide to Checkpoint so they can find the root cause of this problem. Right now I'm behind a firewall, so it's not critical that I remove and reinstall immediately.

    (I apologize for
not getting back to you sooner -- I left the office early yesterday)
    For
the life of me I don't know what was going on with ZA.
I have license for 3 machines and evenutally it "hit" all three.
The only fix was to completely uninstall and install again.
ZA Support sent the instructions below which may be of help to you as well.
I noticed that it wasn't too long after my problem that a new version of ZA came in.
Hopefully this will help. With all good wishes, Phyllis

Thanks Phylis. I believe I am running the latest version of ZA. I guess I'd feel better if someone came out and said there is a known issue and it is fixed or if we're just reinstalling and will eventually find the problem comes again.

    I know what you mean.
But after having a complete lockdown in the middle of a client deadline -- I was just elated to get my machine up and running again.

Have you contacted ZA customer support?
    They are awesome.
I didn't expect an answer to my question for a few days -- but in less than 2 hours they wrote back with the solution that I passed along to you.
Don't hesitate to write to them with your concerns.
    They are real-deal people!

    With all good wishes,Phyllis
