Default Can I remove the Windows Explorer right click for ZA virus scan?

In some update I did, ZA installed a right click context menu entry in Windows Explorer that offers "Scan with ZoneAlarm anti-virus". I have the free version of ZA that doesn't have antivirus, and the entry in the Explorer context menu is always grayed out.

I can live with that. I suppose it's there as an advertisement/nag screen. But it would be nice to remove the clutter. Does anyone know a way to remove it - preferably using Zonealarm itself so it doesn't come back with the next upgrade. However I'd also appreciate knowing any general Windows way to do it.

    Thanks.

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:7.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

As far as I know, you have two options..1.) Upgrade to ZA Anti-virus or ZA Security Suite will Turn -on the Greyed out option..
2.) Uninstalling ZAFree 7.0.xxx and go back to a previous ZAFree 6.xxx version..

Thank you for the reply BigDawg.

Having a useless entry a context menu is no big deal, though it
is an unfriendly thing for ZA to do.

I guess I'll have to post a message on a Windows newsgroup.
I know that it's possible to configure the context menu in
Explorer. After all, ZA does it. I'll find out how.

Hmm... last time somebody posted those instructions, some body deleted the post. So instead I will just give some generic instructions.

Open the registry (left click Start, then open the Run and type in regedit and OK).

    Open the registry to here:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

underneath this key will be some mention of the antivirus content from the ZA. Click this key. In the right panel with be a Default. Left click the Default and in the right click use the Modify. Copy the value found under the Value data. Open the Edit in the ToolBar of the Registry. Enter the value copied from under the Value data into the Find (CTRL+F) and click the Find Next. Delete all keys found with this value (including the first entry manually selected).

Please note. If unaware with proper Registry uses and practises, do not attempt. Or get some experienced user to help you. At the very least first set a System Restore Point before doing the registry editing and/or backup the registry. This advise is "use at your own risk".
