Default Windows Security Center Error Message

Installed the 7.0.470 update to my XP Pro system this morning, following the standard process of doing an upgrade.

After the reboot, the Windows Security Center started complaining that:

"ZoneAlarm Firewall reports that it is currently turned off."

This had not been an issue before this morning.

The ZoneAlarm ErrorLog shows no errors after today's installation, and nothing jumped out at me in the Installation Log.

Any ideas?

Windows XP Pro, SP2, all updates current as of a check today.

Operating System:Windows XP Pro
Software Version:7.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

IMHO, that's a Microsoft Cosmetic Error..
WSC has no contact with ZoneAlarm Control center, and IMHO, WSC usually check for it's on Security Software or Symantec Security Software..
Check the ZoneAlarm Overview / Status Page, if it says "All Systems Active" and "Firewall Up to Date"
You have nothing to worry about..

As long as you know your ZA is working - really working - that's what more important.
On some rare occasions with an update - Windows not recognizing ZA firewall does occur - this is a small OS error/ glitch in recognition - only; your ZA firewall is working properly if you see "all systems active" in ZA and operations appear normal.
As far as ZA is concerned, you could try the following to get Windows security center to recognize ZA, which it ought to
(preferably off line)In ZA, make sure that in Firewall >
Main -
tab> Advanced> General settings> 'Disable Windows firewall' "is checked."
Then shut down ZA (right click on ZA
tray icon, click >
"Shutdown ZoneAlarm."
In Windows security center, switch on Windows firewall. Security center should show that Windows firewall is on (click chevron next to firewall to read the message). Restart ZA from start, programs. Check in security center whether it recognizes that ZA has come on (ZA will have switched off the Windows firewall when you restart it - automatically).
If that does not work, but you are happy not to have security center alert you, in security center, on the left click change the way security center alerts me, then uncheck the box for firewall alert.
http://forums.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/...ssage.id=73645
http://forums.zonealarm.org/i/smilie...very-happy.gifNaiveMelody NYC 4-9-08 - Cracklin' Rosie - Neil Diamond

NaiveMelody, your suggestion worked. I shutdown ZA, verified the Windoz "Firewall" was active, then restarted ZA and now the Security Center correctly identifies Zone Alarm as running.

Thanks for your suggestion.

ProfFate, thanks for your input as well. I agree, it was only a cosmetic issue, but I guess I'm a bit too compulsive :-/

Thanks for your response.
