Default ZA seems to impede browser traffic after "a while"

    I am using the following:
    Windows Vista SP1
    ZA 7.1.254.000

I am thrilled to see that ZA seems to no longer affect my protocol stack with this new version, and running under SP1, and it does not seem to affect computer or internet speeds adversely either.

However, there is still a problem.

When my computer is running, after "a while" which might be anywhere from one to five hours of use, internet access DOES start to be impeded in a way that it isn't when zonealarm is not installed, and although I am still able to ping and traceroute and receive and send email, browser traffic seems to hang up completely until I reboot. This is the case whether using a very recent version of Firefox or a very recent version of IE.

When I reboot everything is fine again.

If I de-install ZA, I do not get this problem.

When I re-install ZA, again, I will get this problem after some period of use.

It seems like a memory leak perhaps? Anyone have any idea what is going on here? Many thanks in advance.

    Operating System:Windows Vista Home Premium
    Software Version:7.1 (Vista)
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

    Hi!
may be some conflicts with third party running applications?
Have you tried to run your system with ZA and only standard MS services/programs?

    This way:

    1.) Click Start
2.) Type MSConfig in the search box and click OK
3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
4.) Remove the checks from everything except ZLClient
    5.) Click the Services Tab
6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor, and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    How does it work?

NOTE: You can place your computer back into a normal startup process by
going back into msconfig and choosing the Normal Startup option on the
    General tab.

If you still have problems and to be sure your ZA settings are correct, just try the same (above) but with a fresh ZA database.

    This way:
1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

    Cheers,

Thanks for your suggestions. Problem being, of course, that it can take a long time (several hours) to notice a problem, and the reason I have many standalone applications is because I need them while working. But I will mull about to figure out when and how I can try your debugging steps.

    Thanks.

    Yep, I understand it perfectly.
However, what suggested can be really useful to separate conflicts with third-party applications and real memory leaks and/or bugs in ZA.

Report back whenever you have time and if you find any culprit please report it back here and to ZA technical support (www.zonealarm.com/tsform)

    Thanks.

Thanks again for your suggestion. I think I have found the incompatibility to be with **bleep** version 4.8, and in particular, the "webshield" component of **bleep**. I will post a new topic about this. I have read much that says that webshield is incompatible with zonealarm pro, but I am not using pro. I using the most basic free version.

I will also post something on tform as you suggest.

I am unable to post a message to the tsform you suggested. It seems to allow only users of paid ZA products to post there.
