Default Weird install problem

I just updated to the new zonealarm to try to resolve an issue it seems to have with ventrilo. (if theres a setting i need to change for it i have no idea)And now, when i open up the options screen to view anything, its blank. Completely blank. No log listing, no menu tabs. Nothing. What gives?
And how do i make it not have ventrilo take literally ten minutes to connect to another server. Yes it only does that with ZA running.

I use the free version of ZA firewall only, no spyblocker thingy, xp sp1.

Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
Software Version:7.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm (Free)

I can immediately tell you that all of the ZoneAlarm products are designed to run with XP SP2, not SP1. This may be your problem. SP2 offers more stability and increased security. You really should consider allowing it to install.

I've tried soooooooooooo many times to go to sp2 that i just gave up on it. ZA has been behaving fine til a few weeks ago. I'm more worried about the ventrilo thing. Why is it taking ten minutes to connect with ZA on? It didn't used to be like that.

I run Ventrilo and it connects instantly. What problems are you having when trying to install SP2?

I'm more worried about the ventrilo part right now. I've managed to figure out the log viewer program alerts and it shows its blocking ventrilo. I right click and it wont let me change anything.

I changed to have it show me all alerts and now its telling me vent is blocked because internet servers are block. I havent changed any settings on my firewall in ages. Why is this only recently givign me problems?

I'm not sure why you've suddenly started having problems but the following might help.
Go to Program Control > Programs tab and scroll down to Ventrilo. My settings are three green bars, four green check marks followed by a red "X". I think your problems will go away if you change your settings to be the same.

Our software is not designed to run with anything less than XP SP2.
We dont consider it a bug since your using an OS which is not officially supported.
XP with no service packs installed is not supported by us.

I agree with HammerNU.
"ventrilo" needs server Rights.. to get the VOIP Server to have access to the Internet..

You may also want to read the Ventrilo Support Forum to see if any advice on configuring ventrilo to work with security Firewalls?
