    Default Blank window with 7.0.473.0

A few weeks ago I upgraded ZAFree, which has been running on this PC for a number of years now with no problems.

Not sure, but think it was to 7.0.470.0, though it may have been to 7.0.473.0.

    Anyway, the problem:
The ZA window on the desktop was completely blank (white with a bit of yellow bottom left) apart from pane seperators and the top section which allows you to stop access, lists allowed programs and also gives me access to ?Help. (Also, the Hide Text button at the bottom is there - and works, except there is no text to hide!)And the icon appears in the system tray.

As ZA was working OK, and I was very busy, didn't bother to do anything about it. But today I had some spare time so decided to upgrade again.

This time, its definitely 7.0.743.0 and the problem hasn't gone away. Any help much appreciated.

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP2
    Software Version: 7.0.743.0
    Product Name: ZAFree

Default Re: ZoneAlarm Free 7.0.473.0 firewall not working

I downloaded the ZoneAlarm Free 7.0.473.0 on June 20th.
Now when I look on my overview page it always says there are 0 intrusions blocked since install and the firewall logbook hasn't logged anything since June 20th.
So I'm not sure it's working properly.
The programs logbook is continuing to log activity.
I have Windows XP and had ZoneAlarm Free 7.0.400.0 before I updated.
Could someone tell me what I need to do to find out if the firewall is working?
    Thanks, Abbygirl

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country,
without All the Details, without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..
How is your XP computer connected to the Internet? 1.) If Cable Mode or DSL or Router connection, those Devises may be Blocking instrution, before getting to ZoneAlarm..?2.) your ISP may also be providing Good filtering service before sending on to you..3.) Here is how to Tell if you have ZoneAlarm Setup right..Go to this Web-Site and Download the "LeakTest, from Gibson Research..Be sure to follow the Install and Test proceedures correctly..http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htmOne Precaution, Check the IP Number that It Reports, to be sure it is not Testing your ISP, or The Cable Modem? Please post back with your Progress Report..--------------------------------------------------------

I did the leak test and it passed.
The firewall seems to be working properly.
I just don't know why the firewall log isn't working anymore, but I guess that's no big deal as long as I know
    that the firewall is working.
Thank you so much for your help, it was greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reporting back on your Leak test..Steve Gibson's Leak Test is what theSecurity Industry 's all over the world use to test their Firewall for leaks with..I know you will be safe if your configuration passed the Leak test..Thanks
