Default ZA control pane locks up

Right now I'm looking at both the posting window for this board and a smallish blank area the size of the menu you get when you right click the ZA toolbar icon.
The ZA access pane is locked and so is the menu.
This is after deletion of the MS update, installation of the fixed ZA, and reinstallation of the MS update.
It sometimes works correctly if I let it lock up with one user and then switch to another user.
    But file scan never works.
    Any suggestons?
Win XP Pro Media Center Edition. ZA V unknon, see above, control panel locked, can't get to it.
Its whatever version the latest download is.

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    Uninstall was tough.
It didn't want to uninstall True Vector.
Third try, for some reason it uninstalled that.
Considered a clean install of ZA, but then just enabled Windows firewall and got a trial of someone else's virus program.
    Y'know, 20 days
away from renewal on a two year deal... why should I pay for phone tech support?
I can throw 20 days worth of money and try something else.
Really sad to see ZA go the way Norton did 2
years ago... a product that wasn't ready for market... that's what brought me to ZA.

http://s118.photobucket.com/albums/o...h_1welcome.gif to the Zone Alarm User Forum..
I just did aClean Uninstall: (and everything works OK..(you may have to go into Program Control and check the settings for your other programs..)Try a clean unistall of the program then reinstall the program.....

1.) Download a Current Copy of Zone Alarm Security Suite from
ZA website in the release history section.

    http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html

2.) Go into ZA Overview/Preferences and Un-Check "Load Zone Alarm on Startup"
3.) Reboot Computer to Remove Zone Alarm drivers from Memory..
4.) Temporarily shut down any other AV/AS Security programs that May Conflict with ZA Install

5..) Click on Start -> Programs -> Zone Labs
RIGHT-click on Uninstall Zone Labs Security, then select Properties.
Under Target you will see the following line (the actual drive may be different on your system):
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninstexe"
    Change it to:
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean (add a space and then the /clean)
Click OK to save the new command line.
Click on Start -> Programs -> Zone Labs -> Uninstall Zone Labs Security
Click OK to run the uninstaller, and OK any security alerts that pop up.
say "Yes when being prompted for the removal of all files and allow TrueVector to shut down.
    - Reboot

Using something like this Freeware CCleaner <--- http://www.ccleaner.com/download/bui...wnloading-slim
, will help do the cleanup as well on both the Hard drive and the Registry .

Now You can Re-install the ZA program. Accept the default setting and choose TRUSTED ZONE and not the INTERNET ZONE..follow on screen instructions..Good Luck..Please Post Back with your Progress Report..--------------------------------------------------------
