Default vsdatant blue screen of death after MS XP upgrade to SP3

I am using Zone Alarm Security Suite Version 7.0.483.000 and noticed that Microsoft updgraded my MS Windows XP SP2 to SP3 last week.
Today for the first time ever I pressed some key in a chat room and got the Blue Screen of Death.
I noticed it said there was a problem with "vsdatant."
I believe that all the "vs" modules have something to do with Zone Alarm.
I don't remember which key I pressed but I was typing a Tell in a chat room.
I had noticed that after the upgrade my Genie Home Backup Manager 8.0 and Norton Ghost 14.0 stopped being able to backup.
I had to do a clean uninstall and then reinstall them to get them working properly.
I wonder if Zone Alarm has been affected the same way?
Is Zone Alarm 8 compatible with XP SP3?
Has anyone had a similar problem?
I notice that Zone Alarm 8 has other problems like not being able to shut down in a reasonable time period.
At my daughter's company where they use Norton for a firewall and anti-virus and anti-spyware many had the Blue Screen of Death after the MS "upgrade."

Operating System:
Windows XP Home Edition
Software Version:
7.0
Product Name:
ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

ZoneAlarm Security Suite 7.0.483.000 works Very well with Windows XP SP3..However, it is a well known fact that sometimes a new Microsoft Update, and Especially Big Service packs can caus problems on some Computers..There are several Notices and Bulletins on MicroSoft Knowledgebase Web pages acknowleging some problems om some computers with "AMD" CPU's..----------------------There is also This Microsoft Update issued after MService Pack 3 that caused lots of problems for other Security Programs..
Critical Issue (7/8/2008) Windows update (KB951748) causing loss of internet access.

To repair this problem, please follow the steps below. Please note that
this will remove your program permission settings (so you may want to make
note of them), but re-establishing them is a simple process.

1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock in the system tray lower right corner
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

If this does not work then the Full Clean Uninstall and Re-install of ZASS may be needed..

Try a clean unistall of the program then reinstall the program.....

1.) Download a Current Copy of Zone Alarm Security Suite from
ZA website in the release history section.

http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...seHistory.html

2.) Go into ZA Overview/Preferences and Un-Check "Load Zone Alarm on Startup"
3.) Reboot Computer to Remove Zone Alarm drivers from Memory..
4.) Temporarily shut down any other AV/AS Security programs that May Conflict with ZA Install

5..) Click on Start -> Programs -> Zone Labs
RIGHT-click on Uninstall Zone Labs Security, then select Properties.
Under Target you will see the following line (the actual drive may be different on your system):

"C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninstexe"
Change it to:
"C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean /rmlicense (add a space and then the /clean)

Click OK to save the new command line.
Click on Start -> Programs -> Zone Labs -> Uninstall Zone Labs Security
Click OK to run the uninstaller, and OK any security alerts that pop up.
say "Yes when being prompted for the removal of all files and allow TrueVector to shut down.
- Reboot

Now Start again in the Safe mode and delete these files in the Windows Directory:

WINDOWS\ Internet Logs

Program Files\Zone Labs

WINDOWS\system32\ Zonelabs

Now Reboot

Using something like this Freeware CCleaner <--- http://www.ccleaner.com/download/bui...wnloading-slim
, will help do the cleanup as well on both the Hard drive and the Registry .

Now Re-install the ZA program now.

Thanks for the great information on how to address this problem if it recurs.
It may have just been a funny key entry by me which caused it.
If it recurs, I'll follow your two step approach to the problem.
How have you found ZASS 8?
