    Default Zone Alarm Security Suite 8.0.020 unable to use network, UI does not open

    After performing an upgrade from 7.0.438 and rebooting I am unable to do anything that requires network connectivity and I cannot open the UI, I get a protection is up, UI is initializing message.

    System is XPSP3.

    Operating System:Windows XP Pro
    Software Version:8.0
    Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

    I never do an upgrade, only a clean install (but that's me). Especially when installing a new version line, such as going from 7.xxx to 8.xxx, you should only do a clean install.
    Do as much of the following as possible. I realize you said you couldn't get the GUI started:
    1) Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking (repeatedly tap F8 as computer restarts)

    2) Append " /clean" (without quotes) to ZoneAlarm uninstall shortcut Target field




    modified Target field: "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean

    3) Uninstall from modified shortcut;




    when ZoneAlarm requests a reboot, reboot into Safe Mode with Networking

    (begin after the 2nd *REBOOT in the webpage)

    6) Install ZoneAlarm;




    when ZoneAlarm requests a reboot, reboot into Normal Mode
