Default ZoneAlarm Pro Renewal Issues (Renewal Notice and Constant "X" over the Icon)

Hi All, I'm sure this has been addressed before, but please humor me.
I renewed my subscription to ZoneAlarm Pro yesterday and did a clean install of the newest version.
ZoneAlarm says it's up and running properly, but why is there always a tiny white "X" with a red circle around superimposed over the bottom left corner of the "Z" ZoneAlarm icon in the tray on my task bar?
It only disappears when the icon changes to Internet traffic or when it scans,
    but then it comes back
    with the
    Z.
It was never there before the reinstall.
That little X is really annoying and making me think something's wrong with it.
Also, why do I still get a renewal pop-up message whenever I boot up my computer.
Is it true that it will go away after a few more reboots?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Findley, thanks for the link and the info.
About an hour after I posted that last night, all of a sudden that annoying
"X" went away like magic, and today, the renewal notice was also gone.
The X did has not returned, either.
So it seems like everything is finally working correctly.
    Sincerely, Chad
