Default Windows warning: Your computer may be at risk

I get this warning after startup. Control Panel->Security center says that the firewall is not activated.

ZAISS (7.0.483) says it's running. The warning goes away if I close down ZASS and restart it manually.

This doesn't happen every time, maybe 70% of all computer cold starts.

Did I miss some setting?

Operating System:Windows XP Pro
Software Version:7.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

this can usually be fixed (unless WSC is corrupted) by:1. Right click on ZA icon near the clock and shutdown ZA2. Wait 2 - 3 minutes3. Restart ZA manually from XP all programs --> ZoneAlarm --> etc..

Please forgive my incomplete command of the English language; I'm from Sweden.

I see no difference between what we said. Both say I get rid of the warning if I close and restart ZAISS.

Now, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that. After all, ZAISS is already running. I find it awkward to have to close it temporarily.

Hi!

what George is trying to say is that the WSC is the problem and not ZA.
Most of the time, the system is not fully in shape and WSC may contain corrupted information.

You can also try to run a clean up utility that you find here:
http://my.opera.com/rejzor/blog/secu...t-1-0-released

Depending on the state of your system and registry you may need to start with a fresh install of the OS to get the WSC to act properly. Or simply disable the warning. ZA can monitor itself already and if the firewall will not work you will receive a warning.

Cheers,
Fax

I did as you said and restarted my computer. The problem didn't reappear. So far so good. We'll se next time I make a cold start. At least this method is more practical than restarting ZA.
