    Default ZA VERSION 8.0.059.000 RUNNING VERY SMOOTHLY

    HiI was kind of apprehensive about updating to the new version after having problems with the last version 8 and then having to go back to the 7.0483.00. I followed the directions that GeorgeV has given on here several times for the clean uninstall and clean install. I ran the CC cleaner at the end as suggested, rebooted and installed the new version and it is going great. ZA now loads and shuts down alot faster than the previous version. My license key and days remaining for my subscription were all there when the new version came up. Have not had a problem. I just thought that I would send some good feedback for a change. I think that if
    you
    follow the instructions step by step, that everyone
    might have a little better luck. Thanks GeorgeV!

    Hi,I also was
    apprehensive about updating to the new version after having problems with the last version 8.
    I ended up doing a clean installation of windows after the last version 8 and then reinstalling version 7. Before I upgraded to the new version 8, I backed up my hard drive so if there was any problems I could return imediately to version 7 without any problems. I went into Zonealarm and unchecked load ZA
    at startup and restarted windows. I then ran ZA setup for version 8.0.059.000. It went like clockwork, restarted windows, downloaded the new antivirus and anti-spyware files. ZA has been running without problems for the last 5 days.

    My upgrade
    to Version 8.0.059.000 also went smoothly and everything is working fine except
    this new version still did not solve my slow shutdown problem(3+ minutes on Windows XP Home).
    I still have to deactivate &quot;on-access anti virus scanning&quot; to solve that problem which
    deactivates an important protection feature (I think).
    Any advice you can offer will be appreciated?

    Thanks very much for the advice.
    I checked the recommended forum
    entry, succeeded in using &quot;regedit&quot; to locate HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control only to find
    no WaitToKillServiceTimeout file on my computer.
    I'm quickly getting over my head technically, but is there any easy explanation how that file would have been eliminated/erased, and how to replace it?
    I was ready to change the value, but have no idea what to do next?
    I tried a System Restore to the earliest available point but that did nothing other than tell me &quot;no changes on my computer since October 8.&quot;Thanks

    change the following registry data:HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Con trol(you must Click on \control - this will display the Setting on the Right sideIn the right side of Control look for - WaitToKillServiceTimeoutIf theValue data was set to 200. or 2000thenchange it to 20000.then Exit Regedit..

    Thanks GeorgeV, your suggestion worked perfectly to locate and change the registry file, and my shutdown now goes quickly and smoothly!
