    Default Updating to (8.0) Error Message on a Vista Computer during Install attempt <Bad Insta

    I got a notice that a newer version (8.0) was available, so I downloaded it to upgrade. It took a long time, because it was 50 megs and I'm on dialup. After it downloaded, I tried to install it, and it said:

    &quot;The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.&quot;

    I don't know what this means, or how to fix it so I can install it. Help! Thanks.

    This is MicroSoft Installer telling you that the Download was Corrupted or Incomplete..,
    this can Happen for several reasons..
    a.) Downloading on a Dialup link?
    b.) using a Download Accelerator/Manager like LiveWire or GetRight can Corrupt the ZA Download..
    c.) ZA Download files works best when Downloaded with MS IE Browser..
    d.) during the ZA download, Please Shutdown other CPU intensive Programs like Playing Music, Games, Email or Surfing the Internet while Downloading ZA..

    1.) I would recommend Deleting the Bad download.. and cleaning out your Temp files and Recycle Bin..

    then Download a Clean fresh copy of ZA from the link Below..

    2.) if this does not work, then You will need to do a complete Clean uninstall of ZoneAlarm before you can Install the New Upgrade..http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/b...ssage.id=77735
