Same here. Upgraded to 8.0.059 and encountered two problems:

1. Shutdown took 6 minutes, which was better than 8.0.020 (11 minutes) but much worst than 7.0.483 (about 30 seconds).

2. Updates ran hourly no matter what was selected, taking 100% of my CPU for 2 to 5 minutes each time.

Tried a clean uninstall and then editing the registry, etc., before reinstalling -- same problems. Contacted support, tried their suggestions, didn't help. They said they're aware of the problems and are working on them. So I did another clean uninstall and reverted to 7.0.483, which works pretty well on my computers. Only complaint is that I can't control the time of the updates, which always occur at about 9:30 a.m. regardless of the frequency I select, a very inconvenient time for me.

1.) the Fix for the Slow Shutdown/Startup..change the following registry data:HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Con trol (Click on Control)In the right side of Control look for - WaitToKillServiceTimeoutIf the Value data was set to 200. or 2000 changed it to 20000.After doing this, you shutdown should change to normal.According to MicroSoft the default setting should have been 20000 (milliseconds) 2.) the Hourly AV/AS Definition Updates are being investigated by Tech Support..-----------------------ZoneAlarm Security Suite version:8.0.059.000

How common is it to
have to use
the fix listed above?
In other words,
is editing this registry key "usually" needed, or is this a relatively rare occurrence?
If it is a rare occurrence, do you have any idea what circumstances might make this happen?
For example,
does having had a previous version of ZA 8 installed
make a difference?
Thanks,
Larry
