Default upgrade and website privacy settings

Recently upgraded to ZA v 8.0.
The privacy settings for websites seem to have been all "wiped out"
.
Worse, when
I re-do the privacy settings for the more commonly used websites it has no effect, i.e.
all ads are displayed.
Is anybody else having this problem?
DC

Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition
Software Version:8.0
Product Name:ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite

I'm guessing that when you upgraded to v. 8.0, the main (global) privacy settings are turned off, and you haven't turned them back on. I believe the default position on install is OFF. They will override anything you manually customize in the privacy site list. Go to the main privacy settings and check to be sure cookie control, ad blocking, and mobile code control are turned "on"; then you can go the site list and customize the individual sites you want finer control of.

Nope.
The global settings are all on.
Furthermore, "adding" a site and changing the privacy settings for that site makes no difference.
