Default Reverting back to ZA from ZA Pro.

Hi all, I've just installed the ZA Pro 15th Anniversary freebie and with a few problems getting it to work "properly" (like ZA Free did before without any problems) and also not being overly happy with it I wanted to revert to ZA. I've checked in "Add and remove programs" and there is only ZA Pro showing. I want to go back to using ZA Free. Can you advise the best way to do this without going down the uninstalling/re-installing route as I want to keep all the settings that I had on ZA( these worked faultlessly for years.)
I am running XP Pro (up to date SP2) - SP3 screwed with the computer on various levels - AVG 8.0 - ad-aware - spybot s&d - Spyware doctor - windows firewall switched off - Netgear router dg834n - System Restore has refused to co-operate so I'm looking for alternatives.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    John

Reverting back to a Previous ZAFree Version for WinXP SP2, your best bet is to do a /Clean Uninstall of ZAPro 8.0

    and Reinstall ZAFree 7.0.483.000

Try a clean unistall of the program then reinstall the program.....

1.) Download a Current Copy of Zone Alarm Security Suite from
ZA website in the release history section.

    http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/fre...seHistory.html

2.) Go into ZA Overview/Preferences and Un-Check "Load Zone Alarm on Startup"
3.) Reboot Computer to Remove Zone Alarm drivers from Memory..
4.) Temporarily shut down any other AV/AS Security programs that May Conflict with ZA Install

5..) Click on Start -&gt; Programs -&gt; Zone Labs
RIGHT-click on Uninstall Zone Labs Security, then select Properties.
Under Target you will see the following line (the actual drive may be different on your system):
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninstexe"
    Change it to:
    "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zauninst.exe" /clean /rmlicense (add a space and then the /clean)
Click OK to save the new command line.
Click on Start -&gt; Programs -&gt; Zone Labs -&gt; Uninstall Zone Labs Security
Click OK to run the uninstaller, and OK any security alerts that pop up.
say "Yes when being prompted for the removal of all files and allow TrueVector to shut down.
    - Reboot

Now Start again in the Safe mode and delete these files in the Windows Directory:

    WINDOWS\ Internet Logs

    Program Files\Zone Labs

    WINDOWS\system32\ Zonelabs

    Now Reboot

Using something like this Freeware CCleaner &lt;--- http://www.ccleaner.com/download/bui...wnloading-slim
, will help do the cleanup as well on both the Hard drive and the Registry .

Now Re-install the ZA program now.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Hi George, Thanks for the info and the speedy reply. I'll try and sort that all out when I get a clear run at some spare time. I'll come back to you if I either run into any problems or to let you know it's all OK. Hopefully the latter.

    Thanks

    John
