I am trying to uninstall Zone Alarm from my Windows XP desktop. With some difficulty I managed to use the Uninstall function to remove most of the program and it no longer appears in the "Add or Remove Programs" part of the Control Panel.
However, if I go to to the Security Centre section of the Control panel and click on Firewall, the script reads "Zone Alarm Firewall is currently ON." I suspect this may be because a folder called "Zonelabs" remains at C:\Windows\system32. When I have tried to remove this
I get an error message which reads, "Cannot delete safePrograms.xml: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that may be using the file and try again."
Now as far as I'm aware, there are no other programs running so it looks to me as if this folder is causing my PC
to think it's still being protected by Zonelabs even though it isn't.
Any ideas how to completely remove al traces of Zonelabs/ZoneAlarm?
I might only add that I'm a relative novice at all this so simple answers only please.
Thanks in advance.
