Hello, I have done some searching on Google and could not find anyone with a similar problem.I had been running the previous version of ZoneAlarm on my Vista for as long as ZA was compatible with Vista.
I upgraded to the new 8.0 (Basic Firewall) and installation went smoothly. Later that week Vista blue screened on startup, rebooted and everything went back to normal. I ran a debug on the memory dump and found vsdatant.sys to be the problem. I did a search and found nothing and figured it was a hiccup.
Then this morning, Vista kept blue screening with the vsdatant.sys driver, it wasn't until I disabled ZA from startup that the problem went away. I uninstalled ZA, cleaned up the registry and temp files, rebooted a couple times,
downloaded and installed ZA again, when installing vsdatant.sys, Vista asked for confirmation, I allowed, two minutes went by without advancing the install, finally advanced, went smoothly, rebooted and was met with the blue screen before the desktop.
If you want me to post up the memory dump debug I'll be more than happy to.
Vista Home Premium 32bit SP1, all up-to-date. (UAC is disabled)I'm also running AVG 8.0 Free Edition and remember that problem a couple months back.
