I just replaced McAfee Internet Security, which came with my laptop, with a licensed install of ZAISS 8.0.059.000, on a Vista Home Premium O/S. Having done my research, after uninstalling McAfee from Add/Remove Programs, I ran these tools, in the order listed:
The only issue I had with either was that Vista told me VSCleanupTool.exe might not have installed correctly and asked me if I wanted to reinstall with the recommended settings; this has happened before with other new installs, and I said "no" as I have done before (with no problems).
The ZAISS install went smoothly, but at the end of the day after running a scan, I shut the laptop down and got the Blue Screen of Death. The laptop rebooted to Safe mode and I shut it down from there, not wanting to deal with system restores that late at night.
OK, where did I go wrong? Should I have rerun VSCleanupTool.exe with the recommended settings? Did I run them in the wrong order? Did I miss a removal tool? This was a net new install.
